What do you mean "at this rate"? June's releases were all good.

Carcasonne - well-made adaptation of a modern board game
Band of Bugs - completely original IP and a first for the genre on the 360 (excluding japan)
Prince of Persia - a remake that obviously took a lot of effort to improve gameplay as well as graphics
Pac-Man C.E. - brand new game in a classic franchise

Frankly, XBLA is about due for a crap release.

The Atari releases up till now haven't been much cop so I'm not suprised there isn't much anticipation for this. They signed a deal to do six games this year so expect a few more :S

Agree though that June was good. They need to get back on the 1 original 1 retro per week launch cycle pronto. Something for everyone then.

All that Iwant in Xbox live arcade are old Sega Arcades: Daytona, Sega Rally and all that stuff. Please stop giving us craps like this one.

A little OT, but have you played Carcasonne? I'd love some impressions. I don't agree that XBLA is due for crap -- there's already plenty of crap in the catalog. The ratios certainly don't favor good games/good values yet. Still a lot of good content. And Pac-Man CE owns.That'd be fantastic. Daytona would be the best XBLA game ever.

Funny how Sega haven't really jumped in to XBLA so far despite having a lot of IP they could leverage. They announced Sonic almost a year ago. I wonder if they have some sort of exclusive deal with Nintendo for the virtual console that has time to run.

I just got Carcassonne last night, but so far it's great. If you're playing against the easy AI or another newbie, it can be just a simple, fun game where you match tiles and claim territories. But when you get into stealing your opponents' territories, maximizing farms, etc, there is a lot more strategy and depth than I expected.Maybe not crap, but every so often we need something to appease the Wii sympathizers who complain that XBLA doesn't have the big steaming pile of ROMs that VC has.

It's mostly the older releases that bother me Vaelwynd. It's not that I'm bothered by retro gaming, I actually love it, but the releases they chose to give us are often the worst the genre has to offer. TMNT for example really doesn't hold up nearly as well as something like Streets of Rage would have.. it's just too damn basic and short for its own good. I would have rather had the NES version of Double Dragon than the arcade release.. maybe that would have helped with all of the slow down :)

I should try Carcasonne.. I've never played the original game but I do like board games.. same with Catan. Still need to give that a shot too.

What do you think about Missile Command then? Are there better examples of this type of game they could have used? I can't think of any games like Missile Command except for plain old Missile Command clones (which are sometimes simple mindless fun). If the "evolved" version is a decent update (like Jetpac Refuelled for example) rather than a simple sprite repaint it could actually be worthwhile.

No.. perhaps the real classics have been rather solid choices so far, but I get frustrated by the more recent arcade stuff. I mean, we're getting two different versions of SF2, and while SSF2HD is going to be pretty sweet -- I really don't need yet another copy of SF2 on my 360. I'll probably buy it anyway, but I would much rather have something like Capcom Vs. SNK 2.. It frustrates me that we're getting Fatal Fury Special and Metal Slug 1 instead of Mark of the Wolves and like, all of the metal slugs.

I really love the arcade support on Gametap thus far. Nearly all of the Neo Geo games are playable online, and by the end of the year they'll have basically all of the best games on that platform.
