New review for it.

http://xbox360.gamespy.com/xbox-360/mistwalker-rpg...

Gamespy gives it a 4 out of 5.

For most 360 gamers, Blue Dragon is going to be a hard sell, but for that sliver of the community that longs for a return to the days of Final Fantasy or Dragon Quest, you simply couldn't do any better. Without question, it's one of the longest games available on the 360, clocking in at roughly 60 hours depending on how quickly you blaze through it. For huge anime/JRPG geeks like us, Blue Dragon is a fantastic game as long as you can make it through the first few plodding hours and don't mind the hyper-cute character design. Now, if you'll excuse us, we need to go see if we can pick up a version of the boss fight music without the lyrics for future karaoke parties.
Of course, all of the classic issues that plague Japanese role-playing games are in full effect, but, again, fans of the genre shouldn't mind and may even look forward to these kinds of things. Cut-scenes are sometimes obscenely long, making Blue Dragon roughly half game and half movie at times. Though you have some control over whether or not you fight monsters on the field, the game still manages to throw some random encounters at you by putting enemies directly and unavoidably in your path, so the traditional complaint of "too many random encounters" is still a teensy bit valid. Seriously though, if these are things that bother you about JRPGs, why on Earth did you even consider buying Blue Dragon?

Yea I thought the review did a good job respecting the kind of game that Blue Dragon is and judging it accordingly.

Some other sites I get the feeling they played Bioshock loved it then came to Blue Dragon and was like "ahhh why this crap =P"

Insanely true. It happened to me with Halo 2/Half Life 2. I played Halo 2 through to the end, then played Half Life 2 on my spiffy new PC and I was like "LOAD TIMES FROM HELL IN THE MIDDLE OF BOAT CHASES FEOFjseflkesdieshdljsehdWWe!!" and hated it. Coming back to it waaay later, playing it on Xbox I thought it was excellent.

The proximity between those two games almost made me miss out on HL2. Scary when you think about it.

I can't see how though as generally the two genres target totally different gamers.

I haven't even bothered playing the Bioshock demo, as i know its not my thing (regardless of how nice the graphics may look)

How nice the graphics may look.. do you think that's why people are so enthusiastic about Bioshock, or is that the only reason you could find to play it, personally?

Well I understand, I mean, several factors kept me from even trying Blue Dragon. I just wanted to make sure Jolli knows that Bioshock is more than a pretty face. There's are reasons for the 99% average it's currently receiving, and it's not simply because of nice graphics.

I think he meant that was the one quality that he could appreciate though, which I can dig.. was just asking.

I'm at the very beginning of disc two and already played 19 hrs and 45 mins. Though not all was enjoyment and sometimes came off as work I'm liking the game much more now.

But I really find it embarassing that hey weren't able to sort out that "all-white" title screen problem - you cannot even see a damn selection. I first started a game in Spanish, and not English ... hehe

Anyhow, I wont start Bioshock until that patch is out so I'm really glad Blue Dragon came at the same day ;)

I never experienced a problem with the all white title screen, what do you mean you can't see a selection, that's because it asks you to press start first.

I'm at the beginning of Disc 2 right now, I must say, the 1st disc was actually quite a bore, picked up towards the end though Disc 2 seems to be much more enjoyable already, I hope it is.

Got my copy today I'll likely start playing sometime between today and wednesday I'll have a lot of running around I need to do and I'll have to wake up extremely early for the next week or so :(

Yea I decided to pass on bioshock (actually made a pre-order but canceled it). I'm sure its going to be an absolutely amazing game, but Blue Dragon is more my thing and so I'm going to play this and my fps of choice for this year will be Halo 3. It'll probably be the only fps I buy for a very long time.

GriftGFX Maybe.. it's different for pre-loaded stuff too. (4 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer @GriftGFX: well Dragon age extracted is suppose to be arround 20 gigs but the download was only 8 gigs or 15 gigs...procedure might be different for newer games (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 45 minutes for this game would have to be like... 3+ megabytes per second. My Comcast can't do that. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX My FFOW DL is almost 12.9 gigs and like 95% done. (5 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX Steam appears to download extracted and installed, there's no install process once you finish downloading a game. (5 Hours ago)
  • Doom_Bringer
Doom_Bringer D2D file right now is 9.2 GB's. I think it was less when I was downloading it (now its extracted) I am pretty sure Steam works the same way. 12 gb is probably the extracted size :P (5 Hours ago)
