2007-09-20 03:03:43 Tri-Ace never fail to impress graphically, i'm quite interested how this plays, they said real time, but I noticed you have 4 part members, so either it plays similar to Star Ocean 3 or Valkerie Profile. --- |

2007-09-20 04:43:05 In reply to kenshin2418 (2007-09-20 04:37:46) Posted by kenshin2418 you have to stop some evil guy from doing something. You start out controlling this guy, then a long your journey you gain some companions who also want to stop the evil guy, one of which may be a future love interest. You know, the typical JRPG affair. spare me kind sir --- |

Perhaps its not like either, hope it's better than the average hack and slash rubbish that seems to setting the trend though. Hope the trailer will be avaliable tomorrow. It could end up playing like Kingdom Hearts though, with the other 3 characters AI controlled. |

2007-09-20 10:19:31 In reply to bloodforge (2007-09-20 05:36:20) Posted by bloodforge I'm hoping it plays similar to FFXII, thats what it looks like from some of the screens, but can't really be too sure(though FFXII wasn't really realtime). It could end up playing like Kingdom Hearts though, with the other 3 characters AI controlled. It seems its real-time, but I hope its executed differently and in a better manner. --- |

I swear you could almost put the gambit on in FF12 and go out for the night and come back and it would still be fighting for you. Tri-Ace always have something up their sleeve when it comes to realtime battle. In the MS conference the guy said you need to discovery things to help you defeat mosters and such which sounds kind of interesting. --- |

2007-09-20 18:43:05 The Gambit system isn't really inherently flawed, if you ask my humble, rather inexperienced jRPG opinion. Removing the grinding from the grind isn't a bad thing in itself, it's just that the difficulty needs to be adjusted accordingly. |

2007-09-20 20:38:23 Wow at all the FFXII hate. |

2007-09-20 20:41:00 I didn't have a problem with FFXII's battle system. I wasn't a fan of it, nor did I exactly hate it. Guess I was in the middle, as in, I could deal with it. Still, I think they should have stuck with the battle system from FFX, personally. --- |

2007-09-20 20:49:39 In reply to bloodforge (2007-09-20 20:38:23) Posted by bloodforge Wow at all the FFXII hate. It just comes down to taste ultimately. Some don't like turn based and some don't like ff12's system. From what I've read about infinite it does appear to be real-time, but it doesn't seem as if it it'll be done like ff12. --- |

2007-09-20 20:58:05 In reply to Optimusv2 (2007-09-20 20:49:39) Posted by Optimusv2 It isn't blind hate or anything I just really don't think the system is well done. It changes the game so much that I don't even know if I should really call it final fantasy anymore. The system wasn't fun for me and I don't like what became of the summons which were once one of the cooler parts of the game. Posted by Kenshin2418 In regarding IU, if it's anything similar to SO3's battle system, then I will be greatly pleased. When are we suppose to be getting the trailer, anyway? |

2007-09-20 23:12:41 In reply to bloodforge (2007-09-20 20:58:05) Posted by bloodforge I've never played SO3, how does the battle system work in that game? Also, the area where I though the game really shines is the amount of customization you can do on your characters/equipment, which is pretty in depth(something I thought the tales games was lacking). I wasn't a big fan of SO3 story, but the battle system easily made up for it. This concludes my short description. --- |

2007-09-20 23:28:43 In reply to kenshin2418 (2007-09-20 23:12:41) Posted by kenshin2418 I'll make this short, but pretty similar to the tales games, but with a bit more depth in the system, and overall just better. You have up to 3 members in your party, and you can switch who you are controlling during battles. The others are of course controlled by AI. There are weak, strong attacks, guard, and block. You switch characters by pressing R1 or L1 I believe(been a while since I've played). You can pull off and string combos, just like in the Tales games too. One thing that was kind of weird, was that if your HP or MP reached 0, your character would die. So it kind of made you a bit more careful with your magic use. Also, the area where I though the game really shines is the amount of customization you can do on your characters/equipment, which is pretty in depth(something I thought the tales games was lacking). I wasn't a big fan of SO3 story, but the battle system easily made up for it. This concludes my short description. And seriously comparing it to a Tales game is guna get you a slap...!! --- |

2007-09-20 23:34:29 In reply to Jollipop (2007-09-20 23:28:43) Posted by Jollipop You forgot the most important bit, that it was semi realtime And seriously comparing it to a Tales game is guna get you a slap...!! Also, i would of compared it to KH if I could! Anyway, you can check around the nets at others impressions of the system, and many compare it to the Tales games too. So I'm not the only one who thought that. You've a lot of slaps to give out! :p --- |
