My theory is that scientists in the future are accessing the memories of the assassin passed down through the generations in his family's genetic code. But why i still have no idea.

I sure as hell hope this isn't the case. Not that it would have any effect on playing the game, but man that'd be a stupid premise.

Sorry, but the idea that memories would be carried in genes is retarded.

No it isnt, atleast its original...thats why its called science FICTION, its all fiction, and because its sci-fi anything can happen.

But all things are pointed to something to dow ith DNA, genes...etc. considering that DNA, hexagons, futuristic patterns keeps coming up on screen.

By the way, the reason why Altair is talking american english has a reason why it is like that while his name is Altair, which obviously isnt english nor american.
One of the devs said that will reveal around 40 seconds or so of why he has that accent.

anyone else seen the comic that comes with the special edition? it shows a guy running through what looks to be a present day environment wearing a hoodie and jeans. then it flashes to altair killing guys. i really havnt a clue whats going on tbh. they've stated its NOT timetravel, so thats out of the question. DNA or VR seems the most logical...or maybe the guy in the hoodie from the comic is just mentally messed up and simply THINKS he's in the crusades and that he's an assassin, when really he's scaling skyscrapers and murdering innocent civilians.

EDIT : it IS genetic memory, apparently one of the voice actors spilled the beans about it some time ago.

Perhaps, but you know what else was considered retarded at one point? The idea that people could fly in the air, or that we would eventually go to the moon, or that the Earth is round. You never know what the future holds, and as Sath said, its science fiction.

i personally dont believe we went to the moon for a second. but thats just me. but as sath said, its sci-fi. complaining about something like genetic memory means you must hate the idea behind gears of war? or god of war? or halo? they all have fantastical completely unbeliveable plots and characters but then they're works of fiction. they're supposed to. cant imagine how your going to take a game like mass effect. aliens that all speak fluent english. how unrealistic....lol

Yeah, I get that it's "FICTION"(thanks for clarifying that by the way...big help), but I'm still entitled to think that basing a game with heavily researched historical source material on a premise with less scientific weight than time travel or aliens is weak. I won't enjoy the game any less because of it, but my background in Biology will still force me to think it's stupid is all.

The idea is actually pretty damn brilliant when you think about it.

It may not be realistic (I don't know much about DNA either way) but it would be pretty damn cool.

The idea isn't too far removed from Carl Jung's concept of racial memory either.. and he was a genius. Granted, I don't think it was meant to be taken this literally, and I don't think it's actually correct either. But it's an interesting thought, and Carl Jung was far from retarded.

Ronsauce...if there wasent big twists in AC it wouldnt be fun, it would be like another "Thief".
Regular assassin in crusades, boring. Atleast this type of sci-fi twist adds much more to the story that can go very far, which is a trilogy by the way.

It could be much worse though...some professors creates a time machine and the guy goes back to take a role in the crusaders to make balance...back to the future movie comes in my ind, without the car.

All signs shows it has something to do with genetics from the present that makes you go back or look back at the crusades.

I don't think its any spoilers or anything, because if it was someone at Ubisoft would have just said so.

Its a spoiler for me. Looks like the sci fi stuff in the game is big...
And before play if we already know what will be, it wont be as exciting, as finding out playing :)

  • Zomoniac
Zomoniac @dingleberry doesn't matter, if you score with both shots and defend successfully all game it's still a win. Shouldn't have been 6-2 to Liverpool as shots mean nothing if they don't go in. (2 Hours ago)
  • dingleberry
dingleberry Birmignham 2 shots on goal, 11 men behind the ball. Should have been about 6 - 2 to Liverpool. Rafa's going nowhere. (3 Hours ago)
