I`m NOT starting a mega debate here, but am simply stating my amazement at the differences in the latest Gametrailers ps3/360 comparison videos.

Devil May Cry-4 seems to run a tad better on the Ps3 with a crisper feel to it, but IMO the game looks better on the 360:

The hood around his neck is slightly better looking on the 360, but both shots are poor quality

The blue fan/winged parts look more detailed in the 360 version, as does the white lacing around her neck. Also, the lighting looks sharper on the 360

Now before the hate mail comes my way, I`m merely pointing out what I see. I know that motion blur may be a factor in ALL screenshots, so I`m not committing myself to these.

I own both a Ps3, a 360 Elite, a Wii AND a high end pc that runs Crysis, so be assured that I`m NOT pointing the finger OR having a go at any of the consoles because I adore them all equally, it`s just a way of welcoming in 2008 rofl.

Personally, the 360 pad is more my style when it comes to FPS`s, but for DMC, I feel that the smoother framerate, an old-skool pad and an assuring note from Capcom, stating that the Ps3 is DMC`s preffered platform, will cement the fact that my next Devil May Cry outing will indeed be on the Ps3.

At the end of the day, i don't see why people are comparing them, they are both consoles, they both do the same thing, so what if one looks slightly better on the other when you look at it with a magnify glass.

If you want a real comparison, compare the PS3 to the Wii, Hell compare the Dreamcast to the Wii

AFAIK both versions are the same, and run the same. The videos you are taking for example are from older builds I think, and the new ones are a lot better since CAPCOM has polished them.
So it is worthless to start a fight when for the second time is equal on both systems.

But if you want a real comparison lets compare... say PD0 to say resistance or uncharted to Gears of war, games will only be as ported as well as a dev wants, are they going to spend a lot of money porting OB for PS3 when it will sell very few units compared to PC and 360 ? or they just going to do what they can in a small amount of time to justify sales/cost

Isn't it clear by now Xbox 360 and PS3 have virtually the same power and abilities (with the PS3 maybe having a slight memory disadvantage) and therefor all the games look pretty much simular on both? Are we gonna compare the same thing over & over until a new gen console comes out? Probably yes.. lol!

But seriously, compare them to a current highend PC.. Although I understand some consolegamers might not like that.. Funny how you always see console v PC comparisons right after a new console is launched, but how these comparisons always dissapear real quick once a console gets a little bit older.. ;)

^^ i hate the discomfort of pc and the hastle is second to none, i have and always will sacrifice res/graphics/frames for a overall more comfy easier and enjoyable experience.

My pc is for RTS and MMO only (was till i quit wow ...until next expansion lol)

Well, I've had way less issue's with games on my PC in the last 2 years then with my Xbox 360 tbh.. So..

PC is way more complex, but if something plays up, I can usually fix it myself.. With the Xbox 360 you're always at the mercy of Xbox support.. It all has it's advantages and disadvantages I guess.. PC just asks more experience and brains to use, you could call that a hassle yes.. For me messing arround with settings etc is just all part of the fun.. :P

Seriously though, these comparison threads always get out of hand because simply some people cant argue these issues in a civil way without their own inclination towards a specific platform getting in the way!

My intentions weren`t to start any hatred, but just to show the slight differences that there are/were (depending on build).

I love ALL my machines to bits and it`s great to be able to buy one game for one machine and another for the second console. That way I can at least start to get use out of both machines lol.

The main thing that the Ps3 seems to lack is the exclusive first-party titles, but I`m sure that 2008 will help this to change significantly, allowing Sony to really start to stretch it`s legs.

It just bores me when games like Burnout/DMC etc come out on mulitle platforms as the choice is irritating. I want games that show the reason that I purchased my Playstation. The wait will soon be over in 2008 though for sure.

True, but I look at it like this:

My pc rig has:

Intel core2Duo 2.66ghz
4 gig DDR2 667mhz ram
8800GTS B.F.G 640 oc2 gpu (ocd even more with Riva Tuner)
Vista Ultimate 32

I downloaded the demo of Unreal and it ran it `ok-ish` at 27-35 fps @ 1920x1200

On the ps3, the game runs just as good @1920x1080 and has nowhere near the specs of my pc on paper.

I see why people love their pc`s, but when you see a game as stunning as Gran Turismo on the ps3, just imagine what pc you would need to run it, because IMO, there`s never been a racing title on pc that`s looked as good as Polyphony`s next installment.

When....(WHEN) devs get used to (and start to really take advantage of the Cell), then my mind boggles at what could potentially be done on the Ps3.

Sure, I`m looking forward to getting an Intel Core2Quad and the new 9800 nVidia gpu`s when they arrive (soon I hope), but until then, I can`t see what my pc could do that either my 360 or Ps3 couldn`t!.

Isn't UT3 upscaled to 1080p on the PS3?

I will get devil may cry 4 for the PS3 better or not, due to the pad and layout is better, and it has a higher FPS than its 360 counterpart

When games are massively better on 360 like splinter cell DA or Assasins creeed..or.. well any ubisoft game lol, chances are i COULD be tempted by the MP with friends, then it would be 360

Anyway, alot of people who played the demo during events and such says both is the same while PS3 has something extra (don't remember it. No its not the install loading faster stuff).

But in the end, they both look great considering we know what both consoles can do.
Not only that but I want to PLAY DMC4 not to watch each frame and musturbate until I get orgasm for which version looks prettier.

Whats more fun...to play and kick some ass, or just sit and look at screenshot for screenshot and compare small details that doesn't do anything with gameplay.

PS. This thread is written "system war" all over it, I wouldn't mind it would be locked considering its pointless.

According to the lateset gamepro germany review, it stated the ps3 version has pixelated shadows, and less AA. Oh, and in order to play the game on ps3, you'll need to install 5GB before you play. They said it'll take about 45 minutes to install, or so.

I for one will buy the PS3 version because of its controller and its quite and it might not die on me.

I will buy the 360 if the PS3 really looks bad.

Anyway, I rather wait for the demo that is about to come out soon on both XBLM and PSN, so I will judge based on that.

But plumb dude, the PS3 version is in a higher FPS it runs at 15000 frames a second where the 360 is on 60, PS3 FTW!
