The ruckus that they are making about this is nothing short of an epic temper tantrum. Although they probably don't recognize it, they've all embarrassed themselves today. |

2008-07-16 22:03:18 It's quite sad that people get this worked up on announcements. Probably little kids that don't know how to control themselves. |

I'm really bummed out by this. Sure it wouldn't have been as huge as the FF13 announcement, but it would've been one other piece of E3 goodness to look forward to. People talk about PR screwups all the time. This is definitely one of them :) --- |

Here's the logical question that everyone is asking. "Why would Microsoft pull an announcement that's been cooking over at Bungie for months?" Why would any game publisher step on an announcement from Bungie that would echo through the entire game industry? only two answers make sense- 1- As a condition of the announcement of Final Fantasy, Square wanted to be the showstopper of Microsoft's press conference. *counter point: Bungie's announcement would come 2 days later, so it wouldn't interfere with Square's big FF13 bombshell. 2- Microsoft thoughtfully considered it's fall holiday line-up and felt that Bungie's announcement might crush enthusiasm for Gears2, Halo Wars and other 1st party and 3rd party games. Maybe even effect hardware sales. *counter point: Microsoft held off until E3 06 to show the trailer for Halo 3. It's didn't bum sales of Gears or any other titles and isn't likely to now. And hardware sales remained robust through 2006 despite the Halo announcement. Nothing else makes sense blmbox and even those reasons I mentioned don't hold up well under fire. The only people who know the reason why Bungie's announcement was pulled is Microsoft as Bungie community leader Luke Smith has already confirmed. Smith also seems to suggest that Microsoft's publishing arrangement with Bungie is far reaching and begs a question as to just how much freedom does the newly independent game studio really have? |

The time that it took to introduce Duffy Rockferry, listen to her sing "Mercy" and then thank her as she left stage was about 7-8 minutes. They should have been able to squeeze Bungie in for at least five. And it still doesn't make sense. Mattrick is talking about the E3 press conference but Bungie's announcement was going to happen 2 days after that. There was no reason to interfere with their announcement. |
