Seriously though YES, companies are meant to make money out of the Olympics. I think your comparison doesnt apply here to be honest. --- |

The IOC should use it as their mantra. "The International Olympic Committee.......Pimping entire nations since 1894" Posted by alimokrane
I don't know if Bioware is capable of doing more than one project at a time. The Star Wars MMO will probably require all of their attention. |

I also think it's a bit presumptuous to assume that EA would simply put all of Bioware's potential IP on hold. They bought Bioware for a reason.. and their not simply going to smother them. |

So back to E3, the idea behind E3 was to be THE gaming EXTRAVAGANZA... and it was cool and spectacular, now they tried to make it small and NOT lose money... Which basically killed the show. Theres nothing special, nothing happens at e3 that people didnt know about already, nothing spectacular is shown... Besides FF 13 going to 360, the show was a waste of time. --- |

It would have been the same result, just more noise and eye candy. Posted by Schmooboo
The show used to be in the spring and carried with it tons of new gaming information. By the time you reach mid-summer which is where we are now there really isn't anything new to report. What's coming by year's end has already been announced. Newly announced titles excite but have no builds worthy of being shown on the convention floor. They create buzz to be sure, but the gaming community is far more sophisticated than it once was. They want to see gameplay, they want to see playable frames of those fantastic graphics the developing team is boasting about. Right now studios are deep in their development cycles trying to either finish up for the holiday season or the nearest date possible for the following year. So not very many surprises to be had. The GDC has become the early show to watch. Gears of War2 made it's debut there because it would have been ridiculous to wait until July to announce it. The same goes for a host of other titles. The ESA had the right idea but they just placed the show too late in the gaming year. |

2008-07-27 12:32:15 Looking over the 360 lineup maybe the most anticipated no-show for me is Aliens: Colonial Marines. If they are using the render updates for UE3 (especially screen space AO) this title could be a looker. Gearbox has already shown they have some skill in squad based shooters with BiA so *hopefully* the squad based mechanics are good. But the interesting part is 4 player coop in an Aliens theme as well as, possibly, Gloom (Q2 mod) like MP. Being able to play as marines or aliens would be very cool, especially if you could traverse vents, walls, and ceilings quickly and effortlessly. Toss in the ability to disable lights, lock of escape routes, etc... it could be a fun strategic game. Hopefully it isn't rushed. This sort of game should work with UE3 very well and Gearbox is a solid choice for the project. --- |

2008-07-28 01:24:33 I'd like to see split screen co-op in Aliens. But first and foremost, they need to get the horror effect just right, and all the shooting aspects, kickass graphics would certainly help. --- |
