2008-07-25 02:46:23 I watched my buddy play that game for a while... seemed like most of it was backtracking. |

Wow I'm really suprised no one is defending this game, to think the lowest score on meta critic was a 8/10 0_0? |

2008-07-25 14:05:32 I think it's a fun game. Yes it has backtracking. Map is really good in the game so it's really easy to get in area where you want to go. Map system can take some time to learn but it's great. You get new equipments and skills which you use to get secret areas and new story areas. If you got stuck the map shows hints after some time to where you should be. I haven't played the second game so no idea how good it's. No NPC that I would remember, just exploring and stuff. Great musics and graphics are nice in some areas too. --- |

btw newbielives, think of MP1 as an adventure game and not an FPS. It is sci-fi, kind of sterile, and has the Doom 3 feel of "read a lot of logs/scans" and whatnot. It junks the proven FPS controls for a low skill lock-on system. And it has no MP whatsoever. If you like mysteries, exploration, and more approachable games it may be your thing. If you dig chick heros you may love it. Nastolgia factor is also big in the game and it is probably the 2nd best FPS on the Cube (after the TS series). I found it boring, disliked the hand holding as well as the limitations--they could have at least offered a classic FPS alternate mode. I think the darth of competition, rebirth of the franchise in a non-sucky title ripe with nastolgia and it is the "main stream" mechanics as well as short on shooter orientation and "epic" story made it feel fresh to a lot of press and ol' NES fans alike. That said, read some MP3 reviews and you will see/hear a lot of gripes which point out what is wrong with MP1. Not a bad game, but it definately requires an aquired taste (which the sales support). If you like the story/theme it should be GREAT. If you find it boring, stale, and sterile ... the gameplay itself won't carry it far compared to most competant modern shooters, although as an adventure/exploration game it all falls back into, "Do I like this story/universe?" --- |

2008-07-25 21:13:51 There's probably no "old" game I could offer a more accurate testimony about than Metroid Prime, having finished it proper as little as a year ago. |

2008-07-26 07:12:35 In reply to SimonM7 (2008-07-25 21:13:51) Thanks for the insight Acert93, I'm going to read some Corruption reviews as you suggested, but I think I have made my decision, after reading the review by SimonM7, I will buy the game for cheap on Ebay since it seems like a missed opportunity if I turn out to enjoy it. A game that literally was a tear jerker for SimonM7 mahaahahhahahhaa, sorry ..just playing;) |

2008-07-26 08:48:26 You've got to love old games, and how (generally) cheap they are. Not too long ago, I scored a free N64 and 26 games. That's basically a collection right there. I haven't hooked it up yet, but one of these nights it's going to find itself attached to my old SDTV. There's basically no good reason not to play it if you're interested.. since chances are you can find it pretty damn cheap. |

2008-07-27 14:44:10 In reply to ACEfromRussia (2008-07-26 09:44:31) Totally agree GriftGFX, I'm almost starting to get addicted to buying these old games, and it's always amazing to see how well they have held up in terms of gameplay. Posted by ACEfromRussia
