Ok, i dont get this. what exactly are you hoping for? All 6 to attack at once? how is that fair, especially in a game where you can barely take a few hits?
I take it you have never played NG

UbiSoft wanted the fighting to be a bit more realistic, than some character with power moves, aerial sword attacks, 50x combos with magic all over the place.

Realistic? By having 6 guards stand and watch as thier men get sliced to death? The combat just looks stupid to me, especially how easy it is to run away through a crowd of guards without a scratch, they dont even attempt to hit you. Like i said, i just hope its on a very easy setting.

what would you prefare? being stabbed in the back while your taking one of the guards out? which is what would really happen....doesnt sound all that fun to me if im being honest. i like it how it is.

Jin, you do realize that if there is like 5 vs 1 fights with a sword, you can't just jump and enjoy the battle like its a damn fighting orgy.

If you swing that sword and the 1 guy just evades it, the sword will hit his "friend".

I could see like 2 vs 1 though, like that Star Wars Episode 3 were Anakin and Obi-Wan was going against Count Doku.

Non the less, as long as the AI attacks you and don't give you mercy I am happy, even 1 vs 1 fights, which I think there will be some.

Well these are games really, if they made the AI to notice character lights, weapons, shadows, sound, breathing...etc. it wouldn't be fun at all.
Afraid to say, but i want that kind of challenge, it would be intense :D
Not exactly mainstream no ... but ya know, balls to main stream they gotta cater for the hardcore now and again :( the people who live and breath a challenge (RIPPER does not count....FUCK that was hard..)

Well I want that as well, but I doubt we will see that kind of a AI this soon...maybe some miracle in one stealth game might pull it off, like the upcoming game Cipher Complex.

Hell I don't, I find games too complex these days, I think im getting old :(

If the AI was that advanced I wouldn't even bother, games have to be fun, not frustrating.

Not complex, smarter.
Saying you don't want smarter AI means you still want them the same dumbed down AI we have been playing against for years now.

The more advanced the AI get the more "real" it will get, which makes it feel you are against real players, and some point I am 100% the AI will be like that in gaming.

If you don't want AI that advanced that just means you don't want the challenge at all, and keep wanting to feel more powerful than the AI, which is boring.

When I played FEAR for the first time, the AI was just great at the time, taking cover, communicating...etc. heard that the Riddick game had greta AI as well, didn't play it (might pick up that Dark Athen or whatever its called, the next-gen Riddick).

I agree with Jin. The chase sequences can seem cheesy, and the combat showed where you are surrounded by foes who watch their mates get killed looks very basic and uninspired. The go anywhere elements look very cool, and graphically pleasing. The hide among the people mechanic is nice as well. This game is going to live and die on the number of missions, mission variety, and if they can fit some cool combat in. Right now it is stab and run or fight 10 people at a time, one by one, and then flee.

And have you seen the footage of Altair blocking sword attacks and there being quite a bit of recoil leaving him vulnerable? Now can you imagine the frustration of one guard doing that and then another attacking you while you have no defense? If you want NG style blocking, then play NG.

Well it doesn't really bother me, I don't see what the big deal of advanced AI is.

To me AI is used to make a game harder, and I don't like hard games :P

Maybe... depends what you want from your game, I don't get enjoyment of being killed constantly (NG for example) it makes me wana smash my console to pieces.

I would rather play something easier and enjoy the fun factor.

I think more advanced AI makes games more random, more unpredictable, more "life like". ie, you can get killed sometimes and you don't even know by what or why. People notice you without you noticing that THEY noticed.

Dumbing AI down is used to draw a line in the sand, to have safe zones where you KNOW you're safe. Cliffy B went on about "clarity of experience", and even though I think his tendency to give stuff silly names is a bit, well silly, he's really on to something there.

The best quality about "arcadey" games is that they are relentlessly clear and obvious in what you need to do to achieve something, and also what you shouldn't be doing.

Metal Gear Solid is an arcade game in that sense. You know that if you're in camo suit people won't see you. If you're in a cardboard box when guards turn around and look at you, you're SAFE. This is the appeal of an arcadey stealth game, you know exactly what happens and why.

When guards notice you in games and you don't know why, it's just insanely frustrating. It's even more frustrating when you CAN'T be sure that you're doing something right. Don't get me wrong, there should be a level of suspense, but at the same time you should be able to make a distinction between a good move and a bad move before you do it, instead of relying on quicksaves.

Long story short, if they decide to make AC a semi arcadey game I'm completely cool with that because there are clear advantages to that type of game. What I don't like about it though is how people react when you interact with them. They really do come across as soulless, aimless robots. Bump into them and they'll sort of wobble for a bit and wander off. It's an immense undertaking to have that many people walking around while not breaking the illusion that they're actually people, and a lot of the later videos don't look very convincing.

Which is really too bad, because unlike Ubi themselves, I don't think the crowd will actually make this game. I think it's a dangerous venture that might end up costing it the status of a real classic.

But by all means, if they pull it off then they'll get roaring applause from yours truly.

Here is the same video but with Jades voice in the background going into more details about the mission.

Damn I LOVE this game, really like the twisted futuristic icons and patterns that shows up now and then.

You are talking to someone that is in love this stuff, so no, your are not alone.

The more twisted it is the more deeper it goes.

Like for the people who don't know what Assassins Creed is at all, when you show them its in the Crusaders, and they suddenly see wierd DNA patterns, diagrams...etc. within the game, it makes them confused, which makes them curious which makes them wonder...what is going on?

So its all good :D
