I think it's because these are launchgames which are not really optimized as the developers are still learning the Xbox 360 hardware, or it's just that the Xbox 360 isn't as powerfull as some might think/believe.. Probably a combination of both, but hopefully more of the first then the last for all of us Xbox 360 owners.. |

2006-01-27 01:24:00 In reply to rjcc (2006-01-26 03:31:37) Posted by rjcc actually there are a couple places in pgr3 where it drops frames, crossing the brooklyn bridge, use the furthest bakc camera angle from the car, especially if theres another car onscreen, it'll drop a few frames, but w/ all the effects it's still smooth |

2006-01-27 06:24:25 In reply to Jato (2006-01-27 01:22:24) Posted by Jato Yeah, but why are some people experiencing problems with COD2, while most people are not..... --- |

2006-01-29 00:46:21 Can anyone tell me if you can choose between 50hz or 60hz with the Microsoft Component cable? |

2006-01-29 06:56:26 In reply to Jato (2006-01-29 00:46:21) my TV selects what frequency it outputs depending on the connection method, HD is always 60hz but if i input with RGB or SCART i can select either 50hz or 60hz. |

2006-01-29 23:16:08 Yeah, I must also register mine...but surely, that can't be the problem here... |

2006-01-30 03:24:09 In reply to Jato (2006-01-29 23:16:08) I don't think framedrops have anything to do with your TV or monitor.. It's just the game's fps that drops at certain points because the 360 hardware can't handle it, and/or because of poor/not optimized programming.. Probably the last since these are launchgames.. --- |

2006-02-01 18:24:06 Ok a few thoughts on the subject.. For one I also notice the framedrops, however they aren't horrendous. |

2006-02-01 23:26:39 In reply to MadFerIt2006 (2006-02-01 18:24:06) I'm pretty sure that's not the issue, cause when I throw 4 smokeys and I stand in it and rotate untill the smoke is gone, I can see the compass in the left bottom corner stuttering like hell, it's just impossible not to notice. |

2006-02-02 06:07:31 In reply to Jato (2006-02-02 00:02:05) Posted by Jato Just for the hell of it I uploaded a vid that I recorded while playing COD2. Any slowdown you see are framedrops of the game and not of the vid. As I walk in the smoke you can see a sort of slowmotion effect, this is also related to the framedrops, the vid itself is fine..... Also, when I'm spinning around I'm spinning continiously, so any break in the movement is the cause of the framedrops..... Let me know what ya think...... The file is called JatoCOD2 and it's size is 23.8 mb. link: http://s54.yousendit.com/d.aspx?id=19RAOANJT32QT06... |

2006-02-02 13:17:44 In reply to hasanahmad (2006-02-02 06:02:41) Posted by hasanahmad I completed the game yesterday. there was no slowdown anywhere in the game. I notice Jato is very anti xbox 360 in nearly all of his posts. so please disregard his comments Either way you have to put it down to the game not getting enough optimization for 720p. I don't think a few frames here and there is going to spoil the game for anyone except the most picky of gamers (normally the PC gaming crowd) One thing i will say is that sending 3-4 360's back to Microsoft is just wasting their time !! (especially when there doesn't seem to be any real issue with the hardware) |

2006-02-02 21:41:41 I was rereading this interview after OptimusV2 pointed something out to me. ATI: But yeah on the shaders we have 48 of what we call the adaptive shader array. So in the past you’ve had to say well here’s where I’m going to use my pixel shaders, and here’s how I’m going to use my vertex shaders, but in this particular case the hardware actually figures it all out for you and determines what the most efficient way to do that is. So if you have a bunch of commands that are going to the VPU, and let’s say it requires a very light load of vertex shading, but a very heavy load of pixel shading, the developers don’t have to specify that. That is intelligently figured out by the VPU. So the VPU looks at the workload is and says, “okay here’s how I’m going to evenly distribute the workload”, so we call it the adaptive shader array. It would explain why people are getting different results. |

2006-02-02 22:23:08 It's quite normal smoke has a major impact on performance btw, in almost any game that uses real looking smoke.. Smoke just requires a *huge* ammount of pixelcalculations etc.. --- |

I notice Jato is very anti xbox 360 in nearly all of his posts. so please disregard his comments Perhaps I was a bit blunt on some points, but I felt that anything I stated was justified. Now after seeing the new footage I have become a lot more possitive about this game and am actually looking forward to it allot! I admit, I can be a bit snappy when I'm dissapointed in a certain game/console or anything for that matter, so I'll try my best not do so in my next posts..... And telling people to disregard my posts because I'm not 100% pro 360 is pretty pathetic IMO. As for why I send my 360 back -TWICE-....... I Got the impression it was indeed a hardware related problem because I was the only one experiencing these problems, and after ruling out a heating problem, a dvd issue and tv/cable's issue's I think it was rather justified.... I mean, just look at the vid and see for yourself..... |
