Will Civ5 be released on consoles? If so I may get this to play with my dad over Live as he loves Civ (and I don't have a PC that could play it). How many players online?

I doubt there will be a direct port. They released Civilization Revolution in 2008 (360-PS3-DS), and it was/is pretty good introduction to the series.

Now i haven't heard about any console Civ game this year, but i'm sure we will get some news in the future. About the online, no idea how many players will Civ V allow.

CivV is PC only. There wasn't even any speculation about possible console port/version, so I doubt we will see it on consoles.

I've been attending CivAnon meetings for approximately 18 months now. Partly because I began to get a perverse thrill out of wiping out entire civilizations with atomic intercontinental ballistic weaponry, and partly because they serve cake at the meetings. I like to kill, that's true. But I like cake even more.

This whole addiction thing is funny but true. I have *never* played a more addicting game than the Civ series. It's really impressive how that works. This is the only game I fear playing, and the only one in which I will lose track of time. I start at 1PM and "soon" after it's 6PM. I eat something and leave it running thinking, "I'm just going to settle this, and that's it for today", or the typical "ok, last turn", and sure enough, I go through 100 turns.

Best strategy series of all time, by a huge margin, and I've played most of them. It's rewarding, has infinite replay value, it's everything!

I agree 100% and my bro would even more! Civ games are easily the best strategy games on the market IMO and by far the most interesting and addictive. I have spent plenty of days in the past sitting down for a 2 or 3 hour play and went through an entire day w/out meaning to. Like you siad, it's almost scary to buy the game b/c you know how easy it is to lose soo much time playing it.

My memories of Civ 2 have that game ranked in my mind as probably the best game ever made for it's time, imo. The series will always have a very special amount of respect and appreciation for me.
