Yeah.. get used to the brightness difference Sath. You'll start to notice that mostly all 360 games are darker by default, but you can adjust them according to your preferences. The first time I played Condemned, I couldn't see shit. I was amazed by the default brightness levels on the PC version, and when I went back to the 360, I turned up the brightness and almost felt like I was cheating :)

Hahaha thats very...lovely ;)

Well yeah I know that now...I just hate it why they make the 360 dark by default...ah well, I guess these dark looking games will have to be adjusted then with gamma option on both Ps3 and 360.

Well the thing about Condemned was, the additional darkness did make the game somewhat more challenging and more suspenseful in some ways, but in observing a friend play the PC version I actually noticed some small details and moments that I might have missed initially because of it. So the lesson there was simply: adjust the brightness.

But yeah, I turn up the brightness on nearly all of my 360 games that have gamma options in the menu, because they're almost always too dark.

Grift I agree, although I didn't think about it :P

Condemned was shitty dark, sure it build something good and all, but I rather have it a bit bright to see something infront of me rather having it so damn dark that its crazy.
Although having it a bit dark and combine it with abit light just so you can see where you are going on, its all good.

I have to keep in mind these kind of games means Gamma option is your friend :)

Loved the demo, but i am a tad fed up with FPS games right now, i ll wait till next year to play the game i think.

Yes the 360 is always dark, and that was horrible when i used to play it on a PC CRT monitor, because games like PGR3 without a color setting were unplayable in certain cases (the dawn or night tracks).

Now with a LCD it is much better, i just wish there were a system setting for Gamma, or better, Brightness Contrast Saturation

Well I decided not to buy this game.

Like I really liked the demo, the art...etc. but I don't know how much of it I can stand.
I liked the gameplay, art, music, tensity...etc. but as far as FPS goes for this year I will go for Haze, if not The Orange box as well for HL2 games.

That and I need to save money, considering its almost October, and the next month Mass Effect and Assassins Creed is coming out, so I REALLY have to go into my "priority mode" and critical money decisions to see what to get or rather, whats really worth my money.

If I had enough money I would pick up like H3, Jericho, The Orange Box, BioShock, COD4...etc. but I don't, so yeah.

But I will play the demo couple of more times and then gotta delete it.

*Fucking hate to be broke!*

Just tried the PS3 /360 comparison by switching video source, and I'm sorry to report but 360 again has better framerate.

It's only so very slightly and most ppl wouldn't even notice, but it's there.

I'd say ps3 version goes anywhere between 30-27 where as 360 is a solid 30 fps

Well i very much doubt you can see the difference between a 27th and 30th of a second.

30 is smooth 27 is not

You can see it well when your looking at the character animations.

Yea.. even subtle frame drops below 30 (or 60) fps aren't actually that hard to detect. You can't actually precisely tell how many frames dropped.. but you can tell that there is slowdown. I haven't actually tried either demo, so I'm not actually commenting on this game.. just the fact that you can indeed see the difference between 30 and 27 frames per second.. especially when you start at 30 and it drops.

Yes thats what i meant, there is a notible effect when frame rate drops but you can't put a number to it.

What i meant was see the difference in a 30th of a second, to say "oh yes that had 3 missing frames"

But then even so i doubt i would even notice a 3 FPS drop as im quite care free like that.... (some might say blind :P)

Well if the game was running at a solid 27fps you wouldnt notice that I doubt(i.e. it would be smooth). Its frame drops that people notice is it not ?

Yea, but im unsure 3 fps is enough to notice slow down, perhaps the hardened PC fanatic could see it but then most of them think only 60 fps is acceptable.

Very few games this gen have had 100% solid framerates anyway.

I don't think that only 60fps is acceptable, and I don't think that most PC gamers do either -- because it's often hard to achieve a solid 60fps in many titles. Or maybe I'm just accepting of 30fps in certain titles because I have to, because I don't have top of the line hardware. Obviously most multiplayer gamers are willing to sacrifice visual quality in order to tweak framerate performance as high as possible as it gives you a distinct advantage, but that's not some arbitrary or elitest goal, and indeed 60+ fps is preferable when possible in those cases.

Anyway, even slight frame drops are noticeable, even a few frames per second. If they weren't, you probably wouldn't know that most games this generation don't have solid framerates anyway :P

Also, given the fixed refresh rates of most displays we use today, I don't think 27fps would look that smooth anyway. Regardless, it's pointless to continue this as newbielives pulled that number out of the hat and admits that it's a total guess/estimate. The point is simply that he observed frame drops in the PS3 version, which isn't hard to believe at all.

i agree. you wouldnt be able to see a difference between 30 and 27 if both where locked. its fluctuations that people can see and being honest its something more common on the PC since they almost 100% never lock their framerates to allow those with £2000 machines to run it at 100fps.

the reason people dont like the idea of 30fps is becasue its so very close to going below acceptable levels if it isnt locked. whereas at 60fps it has to drop quite a lot before anything REALLY noticable happens. personally i couldnt care less as long as its locked or at the very least, stable. halo 3 doesnt have a locked framerate and does dip below those acceptible levels, but it only does it once in a blue moon so im fine with it.

I have played the demo and IMO it was ok. I didn't like when you have to go down throug the weel, you have an insane and nonsense smashbuttons, I think it could have been avoided or at least be replaced by a simpler one and slower. But in general I think mercury steam has done a great job.
I was just wondering when does it supposed to hit shelves?

I didnt find the demo scary or creepy in the slightest and I get scared easily. It was just so repetitive. The biggest problem I had with the demo was the sound effect for the rifle firing. Holy crap talk about bad. It sounds like something from HL1.
