Well, after watching that video. COD4 clearly looks better than ANY other shooter out there, including Killzone 2.

What does Infinity Ward know about about next gen development that most other devs dont? How could they make such a visually astounding, super silky smooth game like that. unbelievable.

1. They are super talented. The majority of the staff came from the original MoH teams--and with CoD1 and CoD2 they have proven they are an excellent team, very progressive.

2. They already have a next-gen engine under their belt. People forget that CoD2 was a HUGE title at the 360 launch and even today still looks good.

3. They are not harvesting the achievements of the past; instead they are pushing forward, leaving no stone unturned, and willing to dump what worked in the past if it leads to a dead end and put in the hard work to make a better idea not only work but be very refined.

Basically they are not recycling their awesome previous efforts for a quick buck. They have pride in their work and are gamers. Shooters is a very full genre and most look very similar, it takes a lot of effort to stand out and to distance yourself from the pack. IW has shown time and again to have a pulse on the genre and to identify road blocks to ingenuity and to find new ways to resolve these issues with a result that is a better game.

Q4 07 -- not exactly sure. November is my guess. The 360 MP beta is apparently in August.

Runs in 60fps on all versions according the 1upYours, apparently the devs were slightly annoyed to be asked how the PS3 version differed, the reply?

I can understand their reaction, but the question is fair considering the disparity, and continued one, in framerate and graphical fidelity in multiplatform games that have, in general, favored the 360 more often than the PS3.

OK, I thought the demo at the Microsoft conference last night for Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare was hot, but I just got done checking out a full-level demo of what the single-player mode looks like in hot skirmish action, and the only thing I could do was wear a shit-eating grin of joy the entire time. It is, without a doubt, the most gorgeous FPS I have yet seen. There is so much unbelievable action going on with tanks rolling by, helicopters flying overhead, tracers firing up into the sky, entire buildings exploding, and every tire, crate, watermelon and box destructible in a much more realistic way than the typical Havok-licensed game can offer (Infinity Ward is using their own physics engine).

The recoil animations and mo-capped rag doll effects only kick in at a certain point in the death animation of an enemy, so things don't look scripted, and everything is based on shot trajectory and impact zone. In action, it's the most gorgeous thing ever, and the wait until it comes out later this year is almost painful, it's that exciting to see. Now, I realize that everyone (or at least 360 owners) are looking forward to Halo, and Halo has always been a great game. But the more I think about it, it's that its greatness is enhanced by the context of the situation. You're the guy saving what's left of humanity, single-handedly, and that's all kinds of awesome. You feel like a hero, and justifiably so. With Call of Duty 4, you're just another dude thick in the shit, with death waiting around every corner. You're no super-human, you're merely human. From what I've seen so far, COD4 is the game I'm looking forward to more than anything in 2007. And with Nintendo wheeling out fucking jazzercise stairmasters as their next big thing to get grandmas buying the Wii, well, I don't see much on the horizon to pull me away from my 360. You can say "Killzone" until you're blue in the face, and I certainly am looking forward to wiping up Helghast with the rest of you, but for my money, COD4 is the shit. Right now there's no footage of what Activision and Infinity Ward showed us online, so you'll just have to take my word for it, but I've never seen anything look this good on an Xbox 360 or PS3 yet. It looks so good, and so realistic, and so fast and fun, it seriously looks like an awesome tech demo for a next-next generation gaming machine. Seriously. Holy shit. Wow.

I'll be curious to see how much the graphics are downgraded for multiplayer. Whats your thoughts on the graphics for COD4's multiplayer? Also will COD4's lobby/LIVE/multiplayer suck less than COD2? I hear it has a party system.

Its incredible that the game manages to look that amazing at 60fps. There is no question its probably easily the most amazing looking game at E3 right now and 60fps... what will they achieve next time around with more experience on the damn machine? :o

Like what else could anyone really ask for... I think this is the best looking game I've ever seen.

I might get some flak for this, but I think COD4 looks better than Crysis. Technically it isn't more advanced, but COD4 is more visually pleasing to my eye :)

Uh? So what is that link doing here? And while that was certainly impressive, I still think COD4..............you know...........

And am I the only one who thinks those "transport vehicles" in Killzone make ABSOLUTELY NO SENSE AT ALL?!?! How can they manage to have such an amazing technology to make that THING fly, and simply have the soldiers up there with no protection at all?

To me it goes against all logic, it does look cool though. One thing I really like is when you keep shooting the bad guys they shake like the bullets are actually doing something unlike the vast majority of shooters out there.

Well, COD4 is a PS3 game too, let's not forget that. There's nothing wrong with comparing the two really. And I'd say they have delivered in graphics, as far as gameplay goes, it's hard to say.

Yes, it does look amazingly fun and all, but it's hard to say especially when you consider their last two games; Killzone and Shellshock. I refuse to get excited about gameplay overall, even when all points to a great game. I'd wait for some previews from hands-on.
