Sick yet another hands on saying Master Chief was controllable! Thats pretty smart taking the particle system off of the cpu.

Yeah. Kameo does the same thing. As long as the particles are not interactive with the gameplay they should be run on the GPU because you can do all the pretty non-user interactive effects quickly and nicely. Particles can still flow and touch stuff in the world, but you don't have the abilities on the GPUs, yet, to do gameplay physics. Anyhow IGN reported Rare cranked up the particles to over 1M per frame and it did not dent the framerate. Kind of an indication of the bandwidth and Shader power (which is not being tapped enough) in there. This is definately a Xenos strong point.

This game has me very happy... now for a 360 Joybox deal for KBs and Mice :D

Does this mean Cortana did indeed 'play' our prontagonists in Halo 2? Theories, including mine, suggest that Cortana manipulated everyone into activating and then de-activating the Halo, putting all Halos in standby mode, controllable from the Ark. The terms Cortana is using also implies that she's in a Covenant state of mind, so to speak.

She says she knows the Chief's future, which if I recall correctly was something Durga talked about too. Time travel, I mean. Durga was rampant since a long while back, and it's still speculation that Cortana is, but it seems to add up.

It seems reasonable, too, that this - being the last Halo in at least an initial trilogy - would in some form tackle Rampancy.

Basically someone has took control of her its why she's saying some of the menacing things that she is. I know I know I've never played halo, but I've read up on it quite a bit plus ign clearified what the issue was. She's being manipulated by some creature I forgot its damn name.

Oh well and yea acert I'm really excited all I know is that when Microsoft decides to make their next console it BETTER have this amazing edram technology inside of it, but with alot more video memory bandwidth. Can you imagine if the next xbox console gpu had a video memory bandwidth (from edram) of 600GB/s or more? EDRAM is key for consoles man I hope they keep that in mind for the next console they release.

You think Cortana the entire time has been a traitor or something? Gotta fill me in I've never played the game been too caught up with college to ever get around to it.

Hell I love my 360 to death and don't get to play it as often as I'd like. Need to get my butt going in elder scrolls I've been slacking just when things were picking up too.

I think she's gone 'Rampant', and I think she has been in a state of rampancy since she connected to the Halo mainframe in the first game. Look up Rampancy on Bungie related sites for a full description.

I read something about the AI going nuts after like 7 years? I am a newb at Halo lore... just started Halo PC :D

The universe sounds VERY interesting though, kind of like Ender's Game.

Very interesting people. Hopefully this will make for a better story this time round, as twisting and as exciting as the first. Halo 2 was practically Halo1 all over again.

You think so? I thought Halo 2 had a much more multi-layered and interesting story than 1.

Acert; Yeah, it happens eventually, so that's why they're generally "killed" after a while, but it's sped up by giving the AI access to an enormous network. Read up on the Marathon story aswell, that contains far more info on rampancy.

If you listen carefully when cortana is speaking, you can hear gravemenind in the back ground. She also uses the word 'demon'. She is probably under his influence, i mean he has to come into the story at some point.
This is gonna be such an amzing story...

I have a horribe feeling that they will be humans' allies and brutes will be the enemy. Yeah the detail and shadows in between the armor is unbelievable. I remember when people looked at the spartans on DOA4 and were like ' I hope Halo3 looks like that', ROFL....
