Flashback coming to Nintendo Switch

I really love Flashback, I've even recently re-bought it on Mega Drive, but man these screens are very ugly. All the detail is gone, i understand a smoother look but this just strips all detail and depth. Seems so lazy. Even the UI is blurry.

Flashback is one of my favorite games of all time, and a big reason why I originally wanted to be a game developer - I have the game on big box Amiga, original PC, and MegaDrive versions.

The 360/PS3 era remake in 2.5D missed all the charm of the original, I still don't understand why they didn't remake it either with hires vector style graphics (like the constantly updated Another World releases) or really detailed pixel art graphics. Even a style done in 3D but that looks faceted or vectorized would have been better.

I miss the point of doing a smoothing shader on this, it makes the graphics look like a blobby mess. I'll probably get this because it's a cool physical edition of Flashback, I don't even own a Switch.

it is a tad lazy. It's just a type of bi linear filter that smooths out the rough pixel edges, and scales up, presumably, for larger TV's so that the game doesn't look like a blocky pixel mess. Capcom did a similar thing with the HD REmake. It's like a cheap vectorization trick. Either way, its not going to look good on a big TV regardless of it being filtered or not.

god it looks like shit. i actually think i prefer the original. if you're going to remake flashback do it properly with completely new high res sprites, don't just stick a filter over the old game.

Couldn't say better, I like that any game can be available on switch but a cheap port for easy money, specially with this classic game, is really bad .. I hope at least they'll have a "switch" to play the game with the original graphics ..
