I wasnt assuming that its just that you dont really expect heavily western games to score so well over there. At least I dont. Especially after seeing some famitsu scores of other western games.

Well that's all I meant. Perhaps we don't understand their taste in videogames as well as we may think we do. If Gears and San Andreas can score well in Famitsu, perhaps there's hope for western games in Japan yet. Maybe (and I do mean maybe) they just need to be marketed better.

It is a shame that most western games are mighty heavy on violence which gets them censored like crazy over there. Gears of War without gore...ew! (Sparks!)

Well Humans are naturally unpridictable, don't see why the Japanese would be an exception to that rule.

I wasn't expecting to like GoW and i found it quite enjoyable, didn't hold my attention for long though.

If Microsoft ever lost exclusivity on Gears (especially after the monster marketing they've done for it) it would be a very sad day.

Nonetheless I think its safe to say Gears is the first big new ip hit of the next generation. And the chances of Microsoft having a second, third, fourth or even 5th in this year alone are pretty damn high...

I can't imagine many shooters holding someones attention for too long if they're not into multiplayer. They're generally pretty short games. A short campaign can still be a good one though, I think.Real time would imply that they're rendered in game, which would not by 40 gigs by any means. High definition CG on the otherhand, could easily fill 40 gigabytes. Regardless, if you think 50 gigs of space is wasteful, perhaps you haven't seen Blue Dragon..
