2007-07-14 14:46:16 There was really nothing particularly wrong with the way Killzone 1 played, but the ultra wonky framerate made it feel so sluggish that aiming was a chore. You had to zoom to hit anything really, and that's fairly standard issue, but even then you would often oversteer the reticule because it didn't feel like it was responding. |

2007-07-14 18:10:14 In reply to kenshin2418 (2007-07-14 18:02:08) Guerilla Games' lead tester, Seb Downie, has decided to shoot his mouth off on the official Killzone forums about a planned Killzone 2 public beta. Posting on the killzone.com forums, Seb Downie (under the alias 'motherH') revealed: "Of course there is going to be a public beta. I have always said that any game that has an online mode needs to go through a public beta to ensure it works as intended." Downie ends his message by insinuating that more information will be revealed later in the year. Both the original Killzone and the PSP follow-up, Killzone: Liberation, went through public beta testing, so this should come as no surprise. |

2007-07-14 20:19:36 Wuca; have you heard anything about the game supposedly taking place on Helghan? |

2007-07-14 20:35:38 In reply to SimonM7 (2007-07-14 20:19:36) As we zoomed back out to the clouds to resume the demo, we asked de Jonge about the three tower-like ships hovering above the cloud cover at the beginning of both the trailer and the demo. He informed us that those were the Vektan cruisers, from which the ISA is launching its invasion of Helghan. He added that the game itself will begin in media res, with the invasion of Helghan already in progress. The majority of the Helghan citizenry will have already fled their homes--a convenient explanation for the generally empty cityscapes many shooters generally feature, de Jonge acknowledged--but the game's opening will provide further details on that particular story element. I Also remember that GG soon will have some dev conference in UK maybe they will show something new there |

Im glad to see they removed the motion blur too. |

It moves great though, very smooth. But the low textures are really obvious and make the whole thing look like a collage of blurred objects. Anyways its still very far from completion so I hope they do up the texture quality. Im glad to see they removed the motion blur too. --- |

2007-07-14 22:25:23 In reply to wuca (2007-07-14 20:35:38) Awesome stuff Wuca! I wonder if Templar will be in the game, as the guy shouting orders at the start of the trailer pretty much has to be Rico. Luger and Hakha never really clicked with me at all, so I don't mind if they're not in. |

2007-07-14 22:27:55 In reply to Optimusv2 (2007-07-14 22:08:32) This is true, the muted colour does work with it well. But MGS does the same, which im not so keen on looking that way.. |

2007-07-14 22:31:21 In reply to Optimusv2 (2007-07-14 22:08:32) Textures aren't that good, that's true. They look low-res. Other thing I don't like is how blurry the guns look, they look bad. I see what they are trying to achieve, but they make the gun model look less impressive than what they are, and as far as textures, they look lacking too. |
| SimonM7 Since 1562 Days |
2007-07-14 22:32:21 The blur on the gun changes as you focus on it for reloads, I think it's a very nice effect. |

2007-07-14 22:59:40 In reply to LEBATO (2007-07-14 22:37:40) That's true Lebato, and when he ducks behind cover his eyes should adjust to what he's watching so that the blur isn't as prevailent then. I think it could also help some if the weapon moved a little when he's standing still, because it's largely because it's so static that makes it look odd. |

2007-07-14 23:05:55 In reply to SimonM7 (2007-07-14 22:59:40) Posted by SimonM7 Pause MGS4 trailers and check out the texture quality and it's like someone chewed on them and spit them out, and once you press play again it doesn't matter. |

2007-07-14 23:09:29 Yeah, I mostly commented on textures in general, you don't seem too bothered by them in Killzone either. I just used MGS4 as an example because it's a very revered game in comparison and people are generally in fair agreement that MGS4 looks snazzy. |

2007-07-15 00:42:23 I am glad KZ2 doesn't look like a total flop and it looks better than KZ1, but I am not overly impressed in regards to the gameplay shown or the technology and graphics. The art direction is very good though, as are most animations, as well is the clear effort that dozens and dozens of artists have put into the game. Big budget game for sure. I am hoping for some innovative gameplay :) --- |
