Yea.. I mean.. I'm not really all that interested in the campaign, but damn this is getting me pumped anyway. I'm not disinterested, I just need to see some MP levels and stuff. I suppose those are all ripped from the campaign anyhow though, and this is a nice peak at the kind of environments we might be seeing. Deserts and forests are great.. but a little variety would be awesome.

very short teaser though :( looks good but I have to say graphically, it's showing it's age. I still cant believe they're bringing out a new COD every year ....

Oh trust me you'll hear it here too. It's also the "same" engine as COD1 in some regards--some people are even calling it the Q3A engine! Yes.. I know its heritage.. but if you can't see how the platform has grown over the years you're just daft. Is Call of Duty behind the times? Technically? Maybe a little... yet that never stopped a game from being great before.

while the engine doesnt bother me since it still look ok...i would have liked to see a new one, just to see a larger improvement visually...atm the visual upgrades are so minor the games almost come across as re-skins of the previous title. and for a series that is wearing itself a little thin (thanks in part to treyarch and the yearly sequels) that last thing you want is for it to look, feel and sound the same. hence the reason i wont be doing anything but rent this one...and the one after that...unless of course they introduce something to spice the game up a little.

This! As for the engine, it is 60fps what do people expect? Engine are about serving gameplay needs and while some games need new engines to meet game design needs (FNR4) CoD4 can add features to a fully functional engine. CoD5 showed it is versatile enough to include vehicles and coop, and those are more important features than 20% increase in resolution or whatnot.

125fps!

Oh, and despite all of its awesome features.. COD4 >WAW. It boggles my minds that WAW has actually managed to surpass its userbase on the Xbox. Where's the attention span?

Also, NO VEHICLES (in MP!)!

... because WAW is even easier to get kills than in COD4, its also newer and fresh thus attracting more casual players.

Yeah.. COD is so casual! /s

Well.. Hardcore mode is casual, I guess. But it's actually a good deal harder to kill someone with a bolt action rifle than it is with an M4 or AK47, and the STG44 doesn't do enough damage. So I'll just file this under, "Doesn't Know What He's Talking About," and move along.

I guess any shooter that yields high damage is casual. Counter Strike, we're coming for you next!

I'll concede one point though: TDM in Call of Duty is garbage.

Well, who's using a rifle in WAW anyway (on XBL)? It is pretty easy to rack up a lot of kills with the MP 40 if you get used to the pace. I've used rifles right from the start and was reasonably good with them, but it's just so much easier to just rush into some enemies and rip them a new one release some dogs and kill some more. You get much more kills that way, and it's easier to use, that's why 90% of the people you meet on XBL will use MPs.

That said, WAW is just lacking compared to MW. The imbalances between the weapons in regular TDM are just too large. And the insane amount of bullet magnetism does the rest (which makes MPs lol-effective at larger ranges, making rifles almost obsolete).

Well.. duh. The Thompson owns that game just like it owned in COD2. The MP40 and PPSh are both very good too. Overall I prefer the Tommy. But what can I say the game just didn't keep me entertained. I didn't even make it to the level cap.. and I'm pretty much done with it..... rifles do own though, and I don't play Call of Duty on XBL :P

I'm just saying, comparatively, the weapons in Call of Duty 4 are a lot better. Higher rate of fire + equal or greater damage. The only gun that's equally capable in my opinion in CQC and at extreme distances is the STG44.. and it's extremely weak compared to the M4 or (and especially) the AK47.

It's not actually all that much easier to kill people in World at War than it is Call of Duty 4. Especially since all of the noobs play Hardcore anyway.

Yes. You can shoot someone in the foot for effectively the same damage as any other hitbox in hardcore. It's lame. The rest of the game.. while fast.. is pretty damned awesome. Situational awareness takes on new heights in Call of Duty 4.. I have never played an FPS where sound was so damned important to your performance. The combat is enhanced by the extreme surface penetration in the game (which i hated at first), which adds new strategies to the games main objective gametype, and sharpens your senses as you scream around corners prefiring.

Next IW will have us smelling our enemies.

God COD4's CQC is so very, very good. It really just all comes together so well. It handles all types of infantry combat well, but when it comes down to close quarters it's just furious. AK74uFTW!

But yea.. WAW sucks. Ok it doesn't suck.. but Call of Duty 4 is just way f'n better.

TDM sucks in both games though.

Infinity Ward has taken note of the criticisms of CoD4's enemies (they would constantly respawn unless a player crossed a certain line) and are looking to fix this. The game's single-player will also be longer than CoD4.

Although there will be no co-op in the game's story mode, a series of separate missions in the spirit of CoD4's Mile High Club will include cooperative multiplayer.
Good to see they are looking at the respawn issues. By far and away my biggest gripe with the single player in COD4, especially on veteran.

Same. Game of next year confirmed! I mean, srsly, I could continue playing Call of Duty 4 for a year or two, easily. My only concern is that Activision is over saturating the franchise. I think they're doing the right thing by separating IW and Treyarch. Sure there's a legacy to continue but it's become so convoluted and confusing that they might as well just kill the Call of Duty name and continue with MW and WAW.

I'm not to concerned with the campaign. I'll probably get all excited about it and then hardly touch it just like I did with Call of Duty 4. Prior to the release of MW2, I promise I'll finish the campaign in COD4! I think!

I havent noticed infinite enemy respawn in COD4 but in COD5 WAW that's a completely different story. Shit > WAW. Everything that is bad is in WAW.

It doesn't surprise me that it's much worse in 5 either.

Some of the levels towards the end of WAWs single player were ridiculous. It wasn't enjoyable at all. I prefer the levels that are slower and more thought out. The mission in COD4 where you played a sniper was fantastic.

Aye, that's the best mission I played in any FPS ever, loved it. Also the introduction mission on the ship was a unique one. Seems like the'll have more unique missions in store for us this time.
