On the other hand, fans will want to know about those little details, so maybe there's something to be said for fan driven reviews.. but I still think that's a crappy way to rate a game. If a game only appeals to fans of a specific anime series, it's probably not a good game.
I'm reading Halo Ghosts of Onyx now. And while I am aware it's nowhere near as good as scif-fi classics like "Ender's Game" or "Dune", I have really good time reading it. I am not sure if person who doesn't know Halo universe would take from the novel as much as I do. Reviewing license based products is a very tricky thing...

This game will be the definitive Naruto title. The use of the analoge sticks to perform the jutsu's is really cool, and now that its confirmed the JP voices will be included, its hard to think of any flaws with THIS naruto game.

COD 4's pre-alpha stage looks better than most game's gone gold stage.

Saying you cant find animaton in Japan is like saying you cant find food in Italy. Its simply not true.

I prefer they show us the Kakashi Gaiden later on in the story when bringing it up makes sense. Maybe a story Kakashi wants to tell Naruto after some major revelation.

isn't there meant to be a new episode of shippuuden out now? usually if an episode is put back a week it says at the end of the show, didn't notice anything on last weeks episode.

on and calling this game a cash in is hardly fair, ubisoft seem to be going great legnths to make a good action/rpg game here. the game looks fricking sweet, has nice solid visuals to die for.
also have the jap voices been confirmed by ubisoft?

Sound like they're being properly reviewed to me. If anything, fans of the series shouldn't review games like this, because they have an obvious bias. Being true to a source doesn't make a good game.
So does that mean that someone who likes Final Fantasy games shouldn't review Final Fantasy 13, or someone who likes Halo shouldn't review Halo 3.

If this game appeals to Naruto fans then shouldn't a Naruto fan review the game, bias opinions and all.

Not if the review reflects that bias.. reviews should be as unbiased as humanly possible. I think I agree that it's tricky though, because obviously fans are going to want to know certain details about how well the franchise translates into a game, but on the other hand.. no that's not what makes a game good or not.

Likewise, with Halo, no I don't think that Heretic should review it.

Reviews reflect bias no matter what, an opinion is bias to the individuals thoughts, everyone has different opinions.

I would rather read a review by a Naruto fanatic than a Naruto hater, as i am probably the former.

As you say whether the translation is spot on or not has no reflection on how good the game is, but it does help to make it better for those that are fans of the anime. (which is who the game is aimed at primarily)
