I never tried it myself. But seems worth to look into, if you really want to use controller in games that don't officially support 360 pad. :)
It's totally not worth looking into. Forcing gamepad support in a game that doesn't support it is more complicated than just learning how to play the damn game properly.

It will the devs have already said as much.
They said that about the first game too.

The Witcher 2 E3 2010 Preview

http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/64416
As with many modern role-playing games, how the story unfolds depends in large part on player-made choices. But unlike the typical question of whether to follow the good or evil path, the choices are less clear-cut, and become a matter of considering what the consequences could be down the line.

With such strong implications to every action, the combat system too needed more options. One of them is a full non-lethal fighting system that allows enemies to be subdued by knocking them out; a good idea if you think you may need to talk to that person later. The tempo-based combos of the original game have also been replaced with a more familiar open system of fast and heavy strikes which can be mixed and matched together along with magic.
About console version:
"Our engine has also been developed for console games and TW2 will surely be out on console at some point; however, it's too early to talk about the details of console versions," says RED, promising "More details to come second half of this year."

Combat looks shockingly clunky and boring, hope this is just the basic stuff.

Combat looks... strange at this point, but I'm guessing the game's not even close to having the comabt system fully implemented.

Visually it's absolutely gorgeous.

Was the combat in the first game as bad as it was in these gameplay movies? It just seems like slash slash dead, repeat with everything in front of you.

The Witcher 2 gamescom presentation:

http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showpost.php?p=2288984...

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F...
-Nice lighting and good textures, area is very detailed
-Armor consists of several parts: gloves, chest armor etc
-weapons and equipment can be modified with runes, effects visible on items.
-More freedom in both dialog and gameplay, sneaking or fighting everybody etc
-stealth mechanic/movement, pressing against walls and killing lights. (light & shadow stealth mechanic?)
-Cat Potion gives you Batman AA like detective vision, you can see through walls, it detects internal organs in enemies
-Geralt's amulet (wolf head) when activated makes important details in the area visible.
-fighting animations are good.
-Your actions in previous quests affects other NPCs just like first game.
-There is nudity
PC gamers will appreciate especially because The Witcher 2 - Assassins Of The Kings will be developed for the PC. Console ports are indeed being considered, but so far no firm plans. Thus all the resources invested in the development of the PC version. This is one of the reasons why Geralt seems to lie in front of an air current from Hawke Dragon Age 2. One can expect a very exciting duel.
looks like there are 3 endings and your actions in first game carries over.
Nice read, can't wait for this.

You get given a whole lot of junk at games conferences. By junk I do mean junk – nasty pens, ill-fitting t-shirts, mysterious plastic shapes, lanyards, low-capacity flash drives, ugly posters… Most of it doesn’t live past the hotel bin. The CD Projekt RED guys, however, came up absolute trumps, combining splendid form with genuinely useful function. Rather than providing a biro and a CD-R full of screenshots, they decided to create an entire alternate Witcher game, stick it in a box, and give it to everyone who came to see the demo.
Haha funny, check the link :P

CD Projekt has boasted that The Witcher 2 will have a whopping 16 game endings, whereas the first game had only three.

And the willy-waving doesn't stop there: The Witcher 2 has 256 cut-scenes (150 minutes' worth), The Witcher 1 had 130 (53 minutes' worth); The Witcher 2 has over 30 armour types, The Witcher 1 has 5; The Witcher 2 has an extra magic sign; and The Witcher 2 has 4 load screens whereas The Witcher 1 had around 700.

The reason for all these improvements is a brand new engine called TSOOD - one that runs on PS3 and Xbox 360 as well as PC. PC Games Hardware, which witnessed a CD Projekt demonstration of the game, noted that there wasn't any discernible improvement in the PC version above and beyond a higher resolution. This is apparently because the game has been optimised for consoles.
Awesome! The loadings were quite annoying on the first game, and it was even worst at launch before some patches, they took quite bit to load.

Well, I did say somehow. You can hack gamepad support into unsupported titles if you're desperate/misguided enough.
