Alright. It seems some people in the UK are able to access this now. The US had access for a few hours. So anyone got it yet ?

I am actually quite scared to turn my 360 and update, afraid of the 360 going bust on the eve of Tomb Raider and Last Remnant ..... I know, I am a chicken /goes and hides under stairs.

I just installed it and it all seems very nice and smooth. The console operate much faster now it would seem and at the moment I'm installing Gears 2 onto my hard drive. We shall soon see if it is worth losing 6GB of space over. It's going to take a while to get used to but I like it.

Looks better, works better ( love finally being able to sort store stuff via letter rather than new stuff or ALL stuff). Love that you could make your avatar fat, to few choices in clothes though. I'm trying the install feature too. Hope it will speed up loading times and shut that console up :)

At work so cant try it at the moment, but GOW2 might not be the best test as that ran as smooth as ice for me, few popin's but that was it, Mr friend got it early and he installed Mass Effect and said the load times were much shorter and framerate dips and texture popin's less frequent, i cant wait to try this party system to see how well it works?

Also, I just remembered that they added some new resolutions support for the VGA cable. I'm now playing in 1680 x 1050 and it looks awesome.

Ok, just caved in and I downloaded it. AWESOME!!!!! I love it ... the dashboard has never been faster and the avatar customization is so cool!!!

All in all, perfect! I wont try the installing games until I get tomb Raider on Friday and that way, I can enjoy it so much better!!!

I got my xbox unplugged, gettin the living room papered tomorrow. Just typical, guy couldnt come for months and when he does get time its right when somit cool is released. It's good hearing some feedback, actually saw a cool video on the wallpapers earlier, it seems they can change the blades aswell, one of the GOW2 ones changed the blades so they looked like destroyed buildings on the friends tab which i thought was pretty cool.

I have tried the install on fallout and Fifa 09, The install is alot faster than i expected, definately faster than my ex-PS3. Ive notice loading improvements, especially on fallout 3 and it feels strange that the console is so quiet when playing. I will try GTA4 later.

btw, the new dash is HOT!

It always amazes me how fast the 360 can Update itself, especially when you compare it with the amount of time it takes with a PS3, a full download and install a new OS within 2 mins!

Top 10 things to do when you get the New Xbox Experience

1) Create (or Customize) your Avatar – You can spend as much (or as little) time as you want in the Avatar Editor to personalize your little guy/girl

Bonus: When you are done with #1, be sure to take a Gamer Picture of your Avatar. In the Avatar editor, choose Gamer Picture. You can use the controls to move your avatar around, zoom in and out or even change the background color (press Y)

2) Explore the all new dashboard. (hint: use the trigger and bumpers to quickly scroll up and down or left and right)

3) PAR-TAY! Check out Xbox LIVE Parties and chat with up to seven of your friends. Go to the Friends channel…choose a friend who is online and press Y to get the party started. You can also hit the Xbox 360 Guide button > Party >Start a Party. Once you do that, send off invites to your party (since one does not make a very good party…does it?)

4) Themes. While any themes you work will NXE, check out some of the new themes via My Xbox and select your profile (second slot) and then change theme. Xbox 360, Spectrum, Day and Night are new themes that available as part of your NXE upgrade…check them out.

5) Marketplace on Xbox.com. This new feature lets you search, browse, and purchase games and videos while you are away from your console. You can also perform account management functions like changing your billing information, viewing your purchase history, and downloading items you already own.

6) Netflix – Xbox LIVE Gold Member and you have Netflix? If you are in the US you can stream thousands of videos (some in HD) directly from Netflix to your Xbox 360. Not a member? Sign up for a free trial at Xbox.com/netflix

7) Install to / Play from Hard Drive. With the game in the tray, return to your dashboard. (pressing the guide button then Y works as always) then go to My Xbox. From here press Y, which will bring up a new menu which will allow, among other things the ability to install a game to your hard drive.
Hint: You can still use the Xbox 360 guide while installing a game to keep in touch with your friends or start a Party.

Bonus: Before you do #7, be sure to set up what happens when you turn on your Xbox 360. My Xbox->System Settings>Console settings. Then choose Start up to to choose Disc, Xbox Dashboard or Windows Media Center. Once you are done there…check the option right below it: Autostart. This tell your Xbox 360 what to do when you insert a game. The choices are enable or disable. I have mine set to disable so I can easily use install to hard drive.

8) Delete Zero Gamerscore games. You can remove any games from your games played list that you have earned no achievements or gamerscore. Press the Xbox 360– guide button, navigate left to the games section and choose Achievements. From here choose the game with zero gamerscore you want to remove and press X (Delete Game History.)

9) Press the Xbox 360 button on your controller to see the all new Guide. The team has added more functionality than the old guide, while making it more responsive. It’s a quick way to check your messages, see who is online or start a party.

10) Take a look at Community Games in the Games Marketplace. For the first time in the history of console gaming, thousands of games developed by the creative community will be available to the public.

iup, i've been using it since friday and love it. Actually been playing gears from the drive, and was also impressed on how fast it installed, but actually there's no great improvements (but eurogamer did a test with lots of games, and gears was one of the few that didn't got better load times) besides not having the spin noise! But i have to get a new (ridiculously expensive) 120GB drive. I only have 20GB (or better yet, 13GB...)

The new themes look really sleak (try the night one). I hope they come up with new ones, and not just the crappy background picture.

The avatars are actually quite cool, not half-assed as i thought they would be. Let's just wait and see what they do with them (well, milk everybody that's what lol). not but seriously, achievements in games and getting a tshirt or a cap to mark this, that would be cool for example...

The quick launch is also cool, you can jump from one game to the other without having to go to the dashboard. just bring up the guide during a game>quick launch and there you go...

Tonight if I have the time I have to try the new party system..

EG pegs Halo 3 as a game that loads slower, and it seems to me that the original Saints Row does too. I can't be absolutely sure, but loading missions definitely seems slower.

Other than the slight worry that I'll be trading a more pleasing noise level for load times in rare cases, I'm very happy with NXE. I couldn't make the avatar resemble me quite as much as my Mii does, because you can't move stuff around in the face (odd oversight I reckon) but it's still got more charm than I recall giving it credit for at the unveiling.

The interface is all much much much better. I'd say "faster" if it didn't sound so rediculous to imply that it shouldn't have been this way all along. I really didn't like the form over function approach to the old dashboard where you had a billion things leading to the same things in some stubborn attempt to keep the number of "blades" up, but this here is much more functional. Frankly, I think it's prettier too.

I'm gonna chuck in a few more games and report back with semi-trustworthy impressions on load times. Not exactly got any exact instruments for measuring this stuff. :)

PGR3 is improved. Restarting isn't such a massive pain anymore. Still longer than a racing game should have, but anyway.

I absolutely love it. The interface is awesome now and I much prefer it to the old blades interface. Furthermore, it is so much quicker in virtually every aspect. I can write messages instantly, as well as viewing various sections on my Xbox.

This will make me sound like a little kid, and I don't care, but I love the new avatar option. It beats the crap out of gamer pictures, but I guess I could see why others wouldn't think the same. I just think it has a lot of charm, and of course any fan of customisation will love it.

So far, I'm very impressed. I look forward to seeing what kind of community features are introduced in the future, to enchance the use of your avatar.

i have 2 questions ...

my tv is 1680 x 1050 , so wheres the option to set the xbox as that?
(ive been to display and it only lets me go between 420p, 720p, 1080i ect, the other option below is blanked out. im using the red, white yellow and green plug things in the back of my tv lol, incase that helps, i dont know much about tvs)

and secondly, how long does it take to install a game to hard drive?

i'm loving it so far, its a huge improvment. its very 'next gen' unlike the old dash

Saints Row loads fine, I was just on a particularly slow loading mission before. Hard drive install does bugger up the audio player however, as that option in the pause menu makes the game freeze for like 10 seconds or so. I never really used it anyway, but it's still annoying when you happen to select it.
