Thank you so much for these videos and the analysis. I also read the Digital Foundry article a few days ago and it's amazing what CD Projekt RED managed to achieve.

Summary from the Digital Foundry article:

"With its impressive 4K results, newly-introduced HDR support and its alternative performance option, this upgrade is pure fan service from the developer for one of the generation's biggest, most beloved games. We'd been speculating on how this one would turn out for a while, and in many ways it's exceeded expectations."

All of these games we've been seeing on Xbox One X have been patched after or during release, will be very interesting to see the results of games actively developed with the Xbox One X in mind as well. I'm sure many multiplatform games released in 2018 and 2019 will show even greater results - like Cyberpunk 2077 and Red Dead Redemption 2.

2017 has been a phenomenal year for gaming, both in software and hardware (Nintendo Switch, Xbox One X). Cheers!!!

I'm so glad they went back and put out updated versions of this game for the new consoles. Its a TRUE classic, a game that I will never forget and will compare future games to.

I already went and bought Blood and Wine because of the patch. Looks beautiful. Such a great game.

I played it yesterday and the sunsets in HDR look nothing short of gorgeous. This is easily my favorite 4K patch so far. Well done CDPR!!!!

Nah, it's microsoft's desperate attempt at staying relevant by having the best multiplatform console game versions with hardly any exclusives to compete with Sony's awesome upcoming exclusive lineup.

Sony were first in introducing a mid gen console upgrade just over twice PS4 GPU performance and microsoft as usual copied.

Remember xbone originally released at $500 same price as xbonex with that connect gimmick with significantly weaker hardware than the PS4.

Sony is in a very strong position this gen, if not the strongest it has ever been.

Well, i would say if both Microsoft and Sony do a good Job it's kinda obvious that XBox One X will get more out of the Games (graphically speaking).

lol, I'm in the same boat, I bought a PS4 Pro to play the likes of HZD, last of us 2, GOW, Spiderman, Death Stranding etc etc Sony's first party line up is 2nd to none.

I buy all my multiplatform games on PC, so xbonex is not a compelling buy, but I can understand it's appeal to console only players.

PC Gamers have been able to play Witcher 3 at 4K and beyond at 60FPS max settings, so dynamic 4k on xbonex 30fps med-high settings isn't all that impressive imo.

The patch is really good but i wish distance lod was improved. Its the same as xb1 version so you see a lot of pop in especially with shadows. Also the ui seems higher res but geralt in the inventory menu is still very aliased

not strictly speaking, it is a quite competent 4k console. and it has a few good things going for it, backwards compatability, granted nowhere near as good as on PC but a step in the right direction. 4k bluray player, too bad not used for gaming i'm still surprised sony doesn't have one, cost cutting I guess.

The only card able to run it at 4K 60fps max (minus hairworks) is a 1080TI, which isn't something most people have. From the videos i've seen of the X version it runs about the same as on my GTX 980, which isn't to shabby.

Yeah... but no console can do this in 2018 anyway. Matching the performance of a GTX980 in 2018 for $500 isn't super impressive. Especially when it's barely paired with a CPU. A PC could do this at 30 FPS in 2015 on one GPU. "Most people" don't have a brand new $500 console either.

Super impressive would be 1080TI performance for $399, but for many reasons that was just not gonna happen.

I think the X is about as powerful console (GPU part) as we could reasonably expect in 2017. The times when consoles could approach higher end pc's are far gone. Transistor scaling just isn't like it used to be in 2005 when the 360 released. Not much that can be done about it, but the gap will only be larger the next round.

Back to the original subject, from what i've seen of this X-patched version of Witcher3, i don't think many will be very disappointed with it. Getting a 4K picture with HDR for added bonus on their new 4K HDR tv's.

I own a 360 and PS3 from last gen because I used them a lot back then! But now I primarily game on PC. If I were to buy a console though, I would go with the XBox One variant simply because it has the 4K blu-ray hardware. As time goes on, one will game less with family stuff. So the console will eventually become more of an entertainment system for watching movies etc. So I think investing in something that can support that media for a long time is a good thing. I invested on my PS3 for that reason and I still use it while my 360 has been unplugged for a couple of years now :)!

I'm looking forward to seeing what happens when Sony announces the PS5. The xbox one x will still be relatively new (i'd guess... who knows when ps5 actually arrives). Does Microsft just release yet another console into the market to compete? Gonna be fascinating.

I thought this thread was about The Witcher 3.... pretty good game guys (some might call it the greatest game ever made) Play it!
