Yeah, Uncharted is totally one of the "new gen" highlights so far. It also does the seemingly impossible of feeling complete and satisfying, yet keeps you excited about inevitable sequels. So many games set sequels up by giving you a fraction of a game, a fraction of a story - an adventure. Uncharted takes no such shortcuts.

Just finished it!

Was perfect! Took me 8 hours.

Dont know how people complained about length, like its not an RPG. For me the time it took me is perfect.

Game was perfect. Story was really well done. Graphics were amazing, gameplay great.

Cant wait for Uncharted 2 :D

It's also a fantastic game to replay, with a great fluidity to proceedings and minimal downtime. Try harder difficulties and shoot for the Achie...uh... tro...entitle.....WHATEVER. The award thingies.

I can't find the motivation to go for those things when the score doesn't count towards an overall number. I much prefer the 360's way of doing things. I hope that becomes a standard on all of the next consoles. Theres a lot of achievement haters but I think they are one of the greatest things to happen this gen.

i prefare the game specific 'achievement' system of uncharted tbh. mainly becasue those points go towards something ohher then an accumulated number to make your e-penis bigger. you unlock stuff with them, from screen filters, to cheats, to mirror modes, to artwork. and i wished devs would do the same for the 360, instead of just giving away points. make them count for something ...ANYTHING damn it.

I like achievements purely because they are a record of something you've achieved. I liked it when Halo 1 had emblems for completing different difficulties, and that gave me motivation for the first time to finish a game on higher settings than "normal".

Then again, if the game is good enough - fun enough - I will wanna get everything regardless. It speaks volumes that games aren't worthwile anymore unless they give you some synthetic reward, some false sense of increased status.

Nonsense, games have gotten so good that they're all worth playing and range on a scale from less-good to more-great. ;)

Absolutely. The standard is consistently high, but that doesn't mean anyone will wanna go back and replay games.

Games are rarely centered on their game mechanics anymore. People finish games because there is a compelling story, not because they CAN'T WAIT to PLAY the GAME.

People don't go skiing for a story, they go skiing for an experience and because it feels great to ski. Some games are like that, and those don't end just because the story ends - some barely bother with a story at all. You will wanna play those again without the added carrot of having "points" accumulate.

That's not commentary on their greatness, just their nature.

We obviously play games for different reasons then. Few games have truly compelling stories. I look for gameplay first and foremost. Those two posts seem.. well completely contradictory to me. But eh, whatever.

They're only contradictory if you do apply the terms "good" and "bad" to it, which you should know by now not to do.

Of course not.. those words don't exist.. or hold any meaning at all in the context of video game quality.

lol.

Look, if you can't tell the difference between a gameplay driven game and a narrative driven game then that's your problem.

If you need to apply the term "bad" to either of those definitions then that is also your problem.

Fact remains that there's a world of difference between something like Crazy Taxi and Fahrenheit and that has nothing to do with whether or not our reasons for playing games are the same.
