I'm playing Hotel Dusk right now and I love it. I have usual qualms with DS hardware dragging down the game's presentation a bit too much, but I love the setting, dialogues and characters. Kyle Hyde is one of the coolest characters in games, reminds me a lot of Gabriel Knight.

I've just got Scribblenauts, it's awesome! :)

Keep meaning to start Hotel Dusk and Ninja Gaiden too.

I'm hearing good and bad about scribblenauts.
Idea and implamentation - great.

Level design and gameplay - not so great.

Is it true you can summon a fanboy and drop a piano on his head? I'll buy it for that reason
alone.

Incidentally, I tried this just now. When you summon a fanboy, it spawns a character wearing a t-shirt with a game on it. You can then indeed drop a piano on his head though it often falls behind him. I think the game tries to encourage you not to nasty things though I then spawned a shotgun and shot him three times before setting a lion on him. He died eventually.

Before this I managed to waste half an hour attempting to dangle him from an archway above a fire (this did kill him before). For some reason the arch sinks into the ground (even ice) when you attach a rope to it. Once I find a way of preventing this, it will be entertaining. I shall post pictures.

There are indeed bad things about the game. Some of the puzzles lack imagination and the controls are awkward. Get it regardless though, it's uniqueness and charm make it worth putting up with.

yeah! Space Invaders Extreme is so good. Can't wait for the sequel.

I'll have to wait on Bowser's game though (that's the Mario & Luigi game, right?), I've only played the first one the GBA, so will have to buy the first DS game.
Unless they can stand on their own. If so I may skip straight to the 3rd game.

I'd love to see another Soul Bubbles, but the marketing for that game was so crap it'll probably never happen.

SPE was so hard, and SPE 2 is meant to be even harder *shivers*.
It will hold it's own in a fight with anything Treasure or Irem can throw at it.

Still, I even found Soul Bubbles hard :/ It is a shame it bombed because it's a beautiful, well crafted game (I did manage to pick it up for peanuts though).

Yes Plumb, Mario and Luigi: Bowser's inside story. I can't find it in any of our shops ( wont order off the net because of post strikes) I even had to double check it
was released, it is, just bloody hard to get hold of.

seems I may have spoke too soon about Space Invaders Extreme 2.
I read the IGN review which stated it's not much different than the first.

Maybe I'll skip it, save 20 bucks.

If the rumor of it having Gamecube level performance is true, that might be all that's needed to convince me, along with continued touch controls, of course.
Oh, and launch with a new Metroid game! mmmmm, yummy.

Yeah, I'm ready for this. I love the DS, but backwards compatibility means I don't have to trade that love away at any rate.

It kinda dawned on me while I was playing all the Sonic handheld games for my portable Sonic roundup that while Rush is FANTASTIC, Sonic kinda looks a bit rough in it. It didn't - and kinda doesn't - bother me, but contrasted against Rivals 2 where he looks rather lovely, it definitely made me realise that I'm ready for a new DS.

I think dev costs have placed themselves relative to the system now aswell, which should ensure the same ease of development that the DS saw.

They are really going to need to do something about the design of the controls, like using a normal sized d-pad that doesn't practically hug the edge of the unit.
I appreciate the DSLite's minimalism, but it doesn't lend itself to long play sessions, depending on what game you've got running.

I really wouldn't mind if the unit is a lot larger but, we all know Japan likes to keep things small so they can fit billions of whatever it is into the world :/

Portables are actually an ideal platform to implement 3D LCD's into. I mean, if it's technically viable, it is. These screens are capable of showing 3D without any form of head gear, but are limited to a single user, since you can only view the effect from the proper angle and distance. Virtual Boy totally does come to mind though.

Grift: You know, i really don't expect nintendo to push something new like that. Of all the companies in the world, Nintendo is the last one i'd expect to push hardware that they lose money on, and i expect that the price point for something like a screen that displays 3d without glasses or anything is kind of pricey? And i'd hardly call a portable device the ideal platform. I think a lot of the effect would be lost sitting on the bus or something, but that's just me being skeptic as usual.

Well, apparently that's exactly what they are using, Sharp's Parallax Shift 3D LCD tech. It's not exactly new technology, but it's really awesome tech, and no one has really pushed it yet.

I don't know how practical this is at all, but I can't wait to see it. The reason I think a portable is an ideal test-bed for this kind of tech is simply because it's meant for a single viewer anyway, so you have less to consider in terms of how it's implemented. There are already quite a few PC monitors out there based on the technology too, but they've never really taken off, either because of cost or practicality or simply a lack of demand.

Bit.Trip Runner is easily my favourite Bit.Trip game so far. Your cockups in it always feel like you're a stupid hamfists equipped person that can easily sort them on the next - one billionth - try.
