Sony will flip it saying it was running on the PS3, because the 360 isn't a next gen console.

I was asleep dreaming just now, and had some interesting thoughts into the deeper meaning of the GTA 4 teaser.
Why Koyaanisqatsi ?
Koyaanisqatsi is a word in the Hopi language that is defined thusly: 1. crazy life. 2. life in turmoil. 3. life out of balance. 4. life disintegrating. 5. a state of life that calls for another way of living.
Koyaanisqatsi is also the name of the critically acclaimed 1983 film by director Godfrey Reggio dealing with this aspect of the relationship between man, nature, and technology.
What does any of this have to do with the GTA IV teaser, Things Will Be Different? Everything.
For starters the entire trailer is "shot" in the exact same style as Koyaanisqatsi and even goes so far as to ape a few of the movie's scenes and the entire teaser is accented by Pruit Igoe, one of the Philip Glass musical compositions from the original film soundtrack.
On the surface to those in the know, it would appear that R* was attempting pay homage to the film Koyaanisqatsi with this teaser. But then you begin to think, not too many videogamers even know what the fuck Koyaanisqatsi is or would recognize it if it bit them in the backside; even fewer still from the post-Playstation era. So why would R* go through all the trouble to replicate the look and feel and atmosphere of the film - unless they were attempting to say something about the upcoming game on a purely sublime level. Which brings us back to the meaning of the word koyaanisqatsi and the purpose of the film baring the same name.
I theorize, there will be at least two more teasers in short order similar to the Things Will Be Different teaser. Koyaanisqatsi was only part one of a trilogy. There is also Powaqqatsi ("parasitic way of life" or "life in transition") and Naqoyqatsi ("life as war"). Each film dealt with each's particular aspect of the relationship between mankind and the world around him. One only wonders if the various themes of the different Hopi words/films will be explored throughout the GTA 4 story . . . or perhaps R* is looking at a much broader scale, and each game in the new GTA trilogy will focus on one of these three aspects each.
Certainly something to look forward to.

Hmm... interesting thoughts unfettered, it seems that your name does line up with your way of thinking :)
As for GTA4, I also think the Koyaanisqatsi reference was very intentional by Rockstar. Combine that with the overall tone of the trailer, and it seems there's much more of a focus on narrative this time.
Your theory about the trilogy would be interesting if they go that route. You never know, maybe things will be different after all.

But you since Vice City, we have seen an increasingly closer connection with a narrative in the GTA titles. We see more of it in San Andreas, and by the time we've finished Liberty City Stories and Vice City Stories, it is more than apparent that R* has in short order become aces at the storytelling business - better than most game developers at least. I just get the feeling, having now watched their progression for the past five games, and now having dreamt a bit on the Things Will Be Different teaser, that one of the things that will be different this time around, is that R* is actually going to attempt taking the video game narrative to a whole new level - a level that in other forms of media, is called art.
I could be seeing way too much into things and setting myself up for disappointment, but as a gamer who has watched the medium for almost 30 years, a boy can dream of a day when the mainstream will be forced to call the medium art. If it takes R* Games, and the "dreaded" GTA series to do that, then more power to them. GTA is as fitting a choice to inaugurate a new medium as a progressive art form and is actually keeping in good company. Some of the greatest art pieces of all times, whether it be music, film, literature, paintings, sculpture, etc. have all raised as much a stink for their existence as GTA is doing now. They love to say the series is degenerate and is warping the minds of the youth. But didn't they say the same thing about Socrates? If there really was game series more fitting to usher in a new art form to the world, I could personally think of no better series than GTA to do it.
Jack Thompson's ears must be burning. If what I think is happening with the GTA series comes to pass, then once he is deceased, Thompson will be spinning in his grave for eternity at the very thought of it - I could think of no better person for that to happen to.
