2007-05-04 05:43:21 Anyone see how incredible GTA4 look in OPM?

Anyone saw the mag? The game looks so stunning. The attention to detail is the best I've seen and I really like all the great ideas they have for the game.

Its like yet again despite how many GTA clones there are none of them seem to raise the bar as much as GTA does. There aren't many devs out there to me that truly understand what makes a game fun and these guys really get it which is why I look forward to many many more gta games in the future :)

It's in OPM, but everything being shown is from the 360 version of the game as they've yet to show the PS3 version to anyone outside of the company. The graphics are incredible still surprised they're achieving this in such a large scale game.

I'd post stuff, but scans aren't allowed :(

If it has Saint's Row's aiming, it's a must buy. If it has auto-aiming i dunno. Auto-aiming sucks really bad :(

Well if you get the chance to read the article (I'd leave a link, but I understand that now even leaving links to scans is illegal here), they talk about that a bit. R* has listened to the masses over the past few years, and has been developing an all new targeting system from the ground up for GTA4. But factor that in with an all new driving system that more closely replicates the experience from an actual driving game (better control, better physics, etc.), and you begin to piece together a picture that past complaints about the GTA series are at the top of R* list of to dos that will go into GTA4.

I for one am very excited.

OPM US is dead. This article is in the newly released June edition of OPM UK. You know the edition featuring the decapitated goat that Sony did as a promo stunt.

I don't know I think the aiming in saints row is really cheesy and it attempts to put skill in a game that essentially shouldn't be about skill in the first place.

Its just a game where you have fun and just like previous gta games the shooting should be lock on. It just feels more fun. I don't wanna have to waste time aiming at stuff manually. According to OPM it still has auto aim, but it has been improved and I'm glad they aren't feeling pressure to change how they do things.

Well auto-aiming takes all the fun out of it for me. It just does. I hate playing with GTA3 style aiming :( But if it has aiming like Saint's Row's.. perfect.

I really dig the targeting (or lack of) in Saints Row.. that sorta surprises me. Given the option, I'd rather have to aim in about 99% of games... granted I do like how Crackdowns locking system works. I think so long as the movement is simular (left stick controls the mlook, etc) than I'll be fine with whatever R* decides.

Assassin's Creed, Alan Wake and next-gen GTA look IMO better than GTA4.

If you want to see the scans, go to google and type GTA IV scans, it's that easy. Check the first link and if you look well enough into that, you get to some super high res, high quality scans. Basically I agree with Optimus, it looks really great.

I saw them (and GI scans and the trailer). The game looks great, but unlike Optimus it doesn't surprise me - because the three I listed have in my opinion better graphics.

I don't think we've seen the next gen Getaway yet and after the previous fiascos with that series I wont trust anything I see of it until its being played live somewhere where people can make sure its a game being played.

I wouldn't compare Alan Wake to GTA.. they just seem so different to me. Assassin's Creed.. I realy think without a doubt GTA4 looks just as impressive as that if not better in some areas. i think a big part of why you may prefer AC over GTA4 is artstyle. I mean its hard for GTA in its environments to look more appealing than the amazingly historic vistas in assassin's creed, but even so I think GTA holds up pretty well. Don't get me wrong AC looks absolutely stunning in my opinoin and we probably shouldn't even be comparing the 2 games, but GTA4 looks pretty damn good too.

You probably won't have much traffic in Alan Wake and you probably won't tornados in GTA4, but they're both open world games with realistic yet stylized art style. It's fair to compare them and I was more impressed by Alan Wake presentation. AC demo also blown me away, while my first GTA4 trailers impressions were "only" "wow, that looks like HL2 with open world".;)

I think the one that doesn't fit this discussion at all is AC. As far as I know, it doesn't take place in a huge streaming world..........or does it?

AC does take place in a huge streaming world :)

You can travel all over and apparently its 100 miles to the biggest city in the game or something like that so on the way to places you'll find clues in regards to your next target and you'll find distractions.

100 miles is a stretch (it would be hours or days of travelling on a horse :P), but there'll 3 cities (probably not big - medieval cities after all), an assassins' stronghold and some vast open areas.

Well, the only thing that I'm affraid off in AC is that the enviroments will be very repetitive.
I mean, all the cities will look very similar but I guess that's to be expected because of the time it takes place at.

That's what I love about games like ME and Too Human. The diversity of enviroments is limitless because you can basicly create whatever you want... :)

I expect a bit of diversity. Different cities mean probably a littie bit different architecture, maybe some gardens like from prince of persia in one of them AND each city will have different colour filter (the one from demo was blue-ish, another one will be brownish etc.). AC will be an incredible game I hope so

Mercenaries 2 will probably be very an awesome and very fun game, too bad it won't have graphics as goo as other titles mentioned in this thread. But maybe AI/destructibility, helicopters and landscapes will make up for weaker (but not bad) graphics.

Well yes, there will be some diversity obviously but I guess will see how that will turn out like.
How do you know about the different colour filters for each city..?
But yeah, I'm expecting AC to be an incredible game as well... :)

I'm also looking forward to Mercenaries 2 as well indeed.
But of all these games, GTA IV is way on top of my list...

I think I read it in a preview a loooong time ago.
But of all these games, GTA IV is way on top of my list...
For me it's like Assassin's Creed, then Mercs 2, then Alan Wake and then GTA4 (and Getaway at the end of the list). GTA on last had weak and shallow gameplay that I hated, so I am a bit sceptical about the game, but previews sound awesome. Too bad we know nothing about gameplay so far - we even don't know what targeting system will be used in the game (but it definitely needs to be changed).

Yeah, I have to admit that I'm kind of being lead by the hype as well in regards of GTA IV.
I don't know, everytime a new GTA comes out it's something special. It's just one of those games you fall in love with.
Even though GTA SA was slightly disappointing to me as well, it was just something I immensly enjoyed regardless.

It has that something special that I can't put my finger on that other games lack that makes me want this game more than any other game out there...
