Offcourse they are possible, that's what I said.. But sadly they are an exception to the rule..
Lets hope GoW2 will get free (sponsored) DLC.. And lets hope most other consolegames will too in the future..

So far as I know, modwarfare is just the front end for all COD4 mods, or rather--it's some kind of vanilla mod. You can pretty much ignore it. You'll never need to install a mod in COD4, since they're all installed server side and automatically download. So far as I know there are no real total conversion projects for COD4, just modifications of the existing product..
Some are pretty cool though. Even though I haven't been competing this season, I still enjoy playing on PAM servers running the latest CAL rules. There are no ranks, no unlocks, and a restricted set of perks and slightly adjusted weapons for balance. Zombies and CTF are also both pretty neat too.
While the server browser is pretty good (better than Battlefield, at least), it is a little wonky at times. I just use Xfire to manage my favorite servers.

Yea it's not very.. refined.. but it's fun. CTF is very cool, I wish they would just make it an official mode and work out the kinks themselves. It's in every other COD game, it makes sense to have it here in COD4. I guess they thought that domination was supposed to replace CTF.. but.. not quite.

Sabotage is CTF-ish in a way. I really enjoy that mode if I'm in the mood. To often though, one team will just plant the bomb straight away. It's awesome when the game goes on for ages with the bomb going back and forward across the map. Reminds me of TF2 gameplay a lot when that happens.

According to the studio, it is one of "less than 10" games to reach the 10 million mark since 2000. Although we don't know for sure what those games are, our best guesses are The Sims, The Sims 2, World of Warcraft, a half dozen Nintendo DS games and Wii Play. As of January 2008, Halo 3 was at 8.1 million units sold worldwide. (It should be noted that the Call of Duty 4 has an advantage here by merit of the PC and PS3 versions.)

Well, I've only had the oppertunity to play Carentan (Chinatown) and Killhouse so far, but I love them both.
Everyone on the server was bitching about Killhouse, but, that's only because there were 36 of us crammed into that tiny level. I think with 16-20 people it would be fantastic, and with 10-16 it would be simply aces. I actually found myself shooting at the mock enemies, I got a kick out of that.
Chinatown is fucking awesome though. It brings back some good memories from COD2--so much so that it makes me want to reinstall COD2 so I can play some rifles only again. It's funny how the map name for Chinatown is even mp_carentan. It's just a classic layout, although they've made some small adjustments here and there, I believe they're all for the better. One thing I was surprised to see was the lack of MG's. They put them up in other MP levels, and they're present in the COD2 version... but I'm not really complaining.
So far so good. I'm gonna go back and play some more shortly.

Yea you're right, the MG's are there, and in the same spots as Carentan. I really dig that map, but then again, I always have. I could go for a couple more COD2 remakes. I wish they'd add some of the custom maps to the ranked playlists too. Like, mp_village, which is hardly even a custom map since it's just another single player level.. but it's fantastic anyhow.
Killhouse is just too much for more than 16 people.. and it's even worse in TDM. I think team deathmatch is easily the worst game mode in Call of Duty 4 anyhow, but I figured it would be a good way to learn the new maps. My mistake!
The TV station is great, and Creek seems fairly solid too.

I just played a FFA game on Killhouse, to one thousand fucking kills.

Holy. Shit.
Yeah--go ahead and make fun of my incorrect aspect ratio (forced 16:10, with an increased FOV to top that off, and then squished down to 4:3) and my 800x600 resolution with no anti-aliasing. I'm still using a pretty old PC, and I need my 125fps.
Anyway, that took, oh.. two hours? And my fingers are sore as hell.

Ha! Holy crap. 125 frames eh? I'm locked at 60. I've tried using the console command to increase the cap but it doesn't work. I think it might be something to do with my actual GPU settings because its the same in every game.

Are you using vsync maybe? I'd turn it off, it's generally a waste for multiplayer games since while smoother, it's dropping frames. COD physics are weird, and the better your framerate the better your movement is. There are actually jumps that you simply can not make until you hit 125.
And yeah, I'm never doing that again. It was sorta fun, but, it took way too damn long. I was pretty drained/burnt on the whole experience by the end of it all, that I nearly let finalD catch me. They need to turn that down to like, 100, maybe 200. 1000 is just freaking insane.
I just played another Killhouse HQ game on a populated server and let me tell you, this map is too damn small for the PC version of this game. It would probably be suitable for match play, where people confine themselves to 5v5, but most pubs support more than 32 people. I know there are smaller ones, and that's fine. Maybe if it's a server with a 16 player cap than Killhouse is suitable, but for anything larger it just gets insane. In the HQ game I was just in, I'd just go prone in front of one of that plywood room on the center/side of the map and just shoot through the whole thing with my AK and get 4-5 kills in a row every time. Stupid.
The general reaction to Killhouse is that it's "Shipment 2." I know that's not really accurate, since the map is what, ten times larger? But still.. it just devolves into this shitty nade spam/lmg whorefest that's really anything but fun with too many people. It's not nearly as chaotic as say, 50 player FFA on Shipment though (then again, what is)--for fun:

That's already been posted in this thread but it gets me every time. The music is so fitting. Ah, people need to go play 50 man FFA on Shipment again before comparing Killhouse to it--it makes it look tame by comparison.

Hmm. I really hate tearing though. Even when your FPS is high, the screen has this weird feel to it without Vsync. You can tell when it's about to tear and to me that feels almost as bad as a frame drop.
