That is what I dont like about people and about the original Dark Sector. They think that the 2004 Dark Sector was actually going to be a game, which wasent, it only shows what the next-gen could do and what it was all about.
So Dark Sector (new version) looks awesome. Sure I would like to see something like the original concept, but as a new game and title and everything, not as Dark Sector we know now.

About Dark Sector, well sure we have now seen concept art, screenshots of how the game looks and how the graphics looks. And with the video interview which containts scenes from actual gameplay it shows how the game is gonna be played, just like Resident Evil 4, which I havent played but seen a lot of gameplays, reviews...etc. and it have gotten alot of good scores and such. So my instincts tells me that DS wont suck, at least for me, and I am sure I am going to be playing this in every difficulty there is, and try to get as many headshot kills or chop their head off with the Mag Disc.

I think Sath's instincts on the Wii are good. If you don't have the money to throw around on whatever console you want whenever you want, then you've gotta weigh the pros and cons. Wii I see as the DS.
While its obviously not gonna sink like Dreamcast, there may come a time very soon when the 3rd party games slack (if not already) and the only games worthwhile will be Nintendo published. I'm in the position where it doesn't matter whether the thing sinks or floats. If it interests me now, I'll risk that it won't interest me later.

Yea it looked pretty awesome. I still wish he would have some kind of mask on or something, or the option to equip a mask if you don't want to see his face. I'm not really liking the new character design, but eh w/e, I could get use to it. The game looks very promising, nonetheless. BTW when is the game slated to be released?

I knew that people would love this game as soon as gameplay footage came out. Other forums are going crazy over this now.
See my instincts are perfect for this kind of stuff.
DS is gonna be great!
PS. The one from Gamespot video interview dont have original sound and shows Steve Sinclair alot, butthe one from Gamepsot have sound...which is great. Going right into Media Connect sharefolder.
And by the way...this footage is running on the 360, you can see a "pick up the weapon" with a blue X symbol on the screen as soon as Hayden kills the guy.

A entire story about DS!

n the campaign, players take control of Hayden, an assassin for a shadowy American government agency. Hayden's aptitude for killing gets him sent on a mission to the Balkan state of Lasria to investigate the stragne happenings there. It appears that the Russians had been using Lasria as the site of some bizarre bilological experiments back in the 1950s, and have returned to reclaim their work. Under the mysterious codename Dark Sector, these experiments in bioengineering were abrupty halted for unkwon resons that caused the Soviets to leave Lasria. Something went wrong, and a terrible secret has escaped from the mysterious holding faciltity called the Lotus Complex: a strange techno-organic virus that has begun infecting people and animals in the area.
The infected organisms quickly begin to mutate into partially metallic lifeforms, and are driven mad by the pain of the transformation. It is up to the trained killer Hayden to get to the bottom of things, but events quickly take a drastic turn as Hayden is infected by the virus. Although he finds himself evolving into something different, Hayden isn't driven mad by the virus. Instead, he stays in control thanks to a cogenital condition, a rare genetic defecty called Familial dysautonomia, which leaves Hayden with the inability to feel pain. This is an actual disorder that only affects a handful of people around the world, and makes the lives of its sufferes very dangerous and difficulty. However, it is Hayden's salvation from madness, and plays ana important part in his dark back story. It also adds a nice indivuiduality to Hayden: as Steve Sinclair puts it "You always have to have some kind of weird superheor quirk."
As Dark Sector progresses, Hayden will gain new powers as his evolution into a new lifeform continues. However, players get control of his most important adaption right away: the disc. A huge three-bladed throwing weapon that pops out of Hayden's metallic hand, the disc is at the very core of Dark Sector's action. "If we f*** this up, then we've lost everything" jokes Sinclair. Thie disc is the one weapon he'll carry with him through the entire game. It can be used to dismember enemies from afar, grab distant objects, and much more. After throwing the disc, the player must hit a button to manually recall it and send it speeding cak towards Hayden's hand. This means that if you throw the disc and miss your target, you can recall it mid-flight for another throw. Wehn the disc is recalled it emits a small elctromagnetic pulse that will stun nearby enemies, which makes them easy to finsih off with a gun or a second hurl of the disc. You can even get more devious with it. For instance, you can throw the disc into a wall and leave it lodged in the brick until an enemy soldier walks by, then recall it for a stealthy decaptation attack.
Firearms a plenty are in the game also. Using the disc in conjunction with guns will become more and more necessary as the enemies Hayden faces evolve. Early in the game enemies are human, but later on they come infected metallic monters(technocytes).
Enemies become resources. One human type called a Mauler carries a tank on their back filled with inferon gas, which affects technocytes. Getting hit with the gas will cause your screen to distort and warp, making it hard to see the Mauler rush in with melee attacks. But if you hit an unsusupecting Mauler from behind, it will make the tank rupture, kill the Mauler and coat your disc with liquid inferon, which makes it extra deadly on technocytes. However, if you're hitting a tecnocyte, blood containing the virus is coated on your disc, throw the disc at humans and they'll go mad as they're infected, beginning the painful transformation into technocytes and start attacking their allies.
The disc also functions as a light source and will illuminate the area in front of you when exploring some of Dark Sector's shadowy areas. GI witnesed the disc being thrown down a dark hallway as light illuminated down the path and back, showing you a "little bit" of what's in front of you. As a bonus, technocytes shun the light and run from it. If ou member Frodo's sword in The Lord of the Rings, then you get the overall picture.
Three bosses are in the game, that will speed up Hayden's transformation after beating them. They appear human like Hayden and have also been infected with the virus. After the defeat the bosses, Hayden will gain a new power. The first is the disc, the second one is a shield. The shield will allow Hayden to create his own cover on the fly.
Lasria isn't just populated with bloodthirsty monsters. You'll encounter survivors and run this risk of saving them or not. If you choose to save them though, you will be rewarded. Eahc surviovor taht you help will give you a small memento that identifies them, like a medal or other personal object. These mementos are the keys to winning the assisstance of the Lasrian underground, a group of resisteace fighers trying their best to fend off both the Russian occupying force and the inhuman technocyte menace. By showing these mementos to members of the underground, they will know that you saved their friends and offer you new weapons or upgrades. However, upgrades aren't simply stat boosters, you will actually have to improve it yourself in an interactive minigame.
Differnent action: Mounted Turrets to driving vechiles and other deviations from the normal action-shooter.
You'll encounter huge walking tanks that take a lot of damage before going down, however if you find the operator of the machines who will be located nearby, you can take them out and save yourself a very brutal fight.
Digital Extrems appears to have both the talent and passion to make their lofty goals become a reality . If all goes according to plan, Dark Sector may evolve from an interesting project inot one of the next great action franchises.
