Max Payne 3: Multiplayer Gameplay

Rockstar Games give a first glimpse at Max Payne 3's multiplayer, showing how the Bullet Time is integrated and detailing the core features of the game's online mode. Also introducing Gang Wars and Payne Killer modes. The game will be available for Xbox 360, PS3 on May 15 (18 in Europe) and for PC on May 29 (June 1 in Europe).

the bullet time implimentation sounds retarded. but thankfully i'm not overly bothered by the MP of this game anyway. all about the SP baby. would have prefered co-op over this tbh.

Meh, i cannot get excited about mp in these Rockstar's games.

Give me good sp. If i want TPS mp craziness, prefer to stick with my Gears 3.

Despite my major concerns about whether this will have that Max Payne magic and atmosphere of the previous games, I have to say that the overall gameplay - including the multiplayer - does seem quite cool.

Sounds an awful lot like what I heard from the Mass Effect camp prior to singing the praises of ME multiplayer. And MP fits this in game pretty dang naturally.

Like this MP comes as a surprise. It sounds like no one here knows what to expect from games today. This is standard affair, unless a game is designed w MP being it's priority you end up with the same formula. Sometimes it works, sometimes it's fun for a month and most of the time they're not good. To me this looks like GOW or Uncaharted, except for the animations which is what sells me personally. It will be a fun novelty, I'd rather have it then not.

Looks like a cluster fuck in all honesty. Maps look smaller than RDR death-match maps.

I do enjoy their 2nd person narrated videos though. Makes it seem more subjective, like a 50s car commercial.

BULLET TIME IS IN MULTIPLAYER!!! I am really excited for this. Of course, since I played MP1 and MP2, I am very looking forward to Single Player too.

Well, I wouldn't get too excited about that just yet.

Their explanation of how it will be implemented fairly was incredibly vague and unclear, and such a feature has the potential to completely upset the balance of the game - on the multiplayer side of things, of course.

reminds me of the multiplayer slow-motion bubbles of Timeshift or Singularity(one of those), if I recall. The thing is that they seem to be invisible and centered on the player... something akin to that?

As I understand it it's simply about line of sight. So whom ever is in your sights gets caught in the slow-mo. Brake line of sight & you'll loose the slow mo.

Remember RDR's spotting/pre-aim tagging? When I first played RDR, I immediately thought of Max Payne 1 and possible bullet time. I think they're simply using the same mechanics.

Wouldn't be surprised if it's the same deal. What makes me on the fence about the multi in general is how small the maps might be.

I just want to try it regardless. I'm not expecting a MP game that I keep coming back to for years or anything.. but it could be fun.
