Xbox 360

Crackdown is finally back after months without any new media. This game, produced by GTA's creator Dave Jones, has a very special art style. I think it looked much better in motion during X05 than on these still images.

Weirdest graphical style ever, that's for sure. I've seen these before but my question from then still stands: what's the deal with the ground texture in shot #8?

About the game .. it has a odd style indeed .. and the BG's are not exactly build in a city look ... its odd .. but i think it all will be copensated by the "unrealistical" level of freedom .. like .. "crackingdown" a building to the floor.

What is with all those pipes? there is pipes everywhere!

Mix of real life and cel-shading interesting but looks last gen.

The Idea of a mixture of Cel Shading and Real Life look sounds intereseting, but in this new screens, i see no cel shading at all. Looks pretty usual to me.

I say this will kill saints row. In this game you have all sorts of super powers and when you enter a car it could be some beaten down car from the 80s it automatically transforms in front of your eyes into a car that fits best with your character.

I can't say much about this game other than they are planning alot of things to be possible and if they succeed this could be a major surprise hit for the 360. I think in motion this game might convince people to buy it.

Looks like they should've waited a little longer before releasing material. It looks unpolished and last-gen.

These screens look worse than the original batch released in the fall. Less stylized and without the sharp graphic-novel style.

Anyway, unlike Saint's Row and GTA, this game has full co-op through the whole game, including online, plus you can't pick up and throw cars and leap from rooftops in those games. I'm still keeping an eye on this one.

Hmm I was ready to praise this game but looking at these shots it just doesnt deserve praise from the visual perspective.

Art design is fine. Modernism, Andy Warhol on acid with a sprinkle of cell shading, fine.

Lack of lightmaps in geometry, lack of shading groups on geometry (edge-curving gouraud) lack of texture variation, lack of quality texturing, textures that look like corrupted RAM on the GPU, lack of AA. Not fine.

If this doesnt improve dramatically they can keep their so called "inventor of GTA".

Joergen, are you going to play the game or write a thesis on the graphics?

If they come out with a demo I'll gladly try it out. But as a consumer and a person who appreciates art, graphics and technology I have the right to judge purely based on appearance.

I played GTA3 to death on the PS2 and thought it was the most next-gen thing in years. This so far completely turns me off. They have to have a killer game under that ugly duckling facade of theirs to get me interested.

I don't know what exactly is this game about. For what I've seen it will be much like a GTA game but in a futuristic environment with super-hero like characters.

What is so difficult to digest is the game's whole conception and art direction.

Gameplay always has the last word but in this case it will really have an important role.

It's still in development Alimokrane. When this game is finished, expect it to look 10X better than it does now.

UE3 game, large persistant GTA like world. Not digging the art direction much, but I could say the same about GTA. All depends if the gameplay lives up to the hype.
