2K Games has released some new images from Swedish Starbreeze's The Darkness, looking as cool as ever. There's no reason to have anything but high expectations on a game from these guys, and it's reassuring to see that you already can see the similarities with Riddick by just looking at the graphics style.

That screen where the guy is getting his head sawn off is awesome (the rest 2 ofcourse but i liked that gory one :D)

now THAT is a game that is a game I'm anicipating to see more of, I'd also like to see a new Riddick. Very nice graphics.

I heard that a few months go in the official playstation magazine (PSM?), they had a cover story on this game and they mentioned how Starbreeze is using the Chronicles of Riddick engine on this. Would definitely explain why the textures are so good.

Oh that's really good to hear. Sorry, I'm just not very familiar with this franchise, nor have I looked into this game very much. :]

This kicks ass. Has a slightly simplistic art direction but still WITH style. Starbreeze know their engines so I have high hopes for this one. They did Riddick which is one of the best looking games on the Xbox1 and they coded their engine ALL INHOUSE and the engine matches or surpasses the heralded Doom3 engine.

Not only was Riddick doom3 quality in graphics it was a far better game. One of the few movie license games that got over 9 for good reason. Sadly the movie license hurt the game more than it was worth, image-wise (people kept away from always-shitty movie game)

I thought this game was gonna be a 3rd person Action game when they first showed it. But FPS can work, especially with Starbreeze on it.

No, you're not... that's exactly what I was thinking. Yes, the textures are hi-res and all, but it looks so boring. There's no artistic style, and definitely not the artistic style of Marc Silvestri. I hope this isn't how it'll turn out...it's still too sterile.

i agree it is abit sterile to look at and the backgrounds and textures but your forgeting one key thing....the gameplay and that is what truly makes a game all you can do is wait and see how it plays.
