Probably the same one that did the art design and level design. Seriously, could a game look any less inspired?

Why are we talking about this. At the beginning of the trailer it says it's pre-rendered.

But I also agree that the character models are terrible.

I don't understand the beginning.
"The following TRAILER is prerendered for ALL AUDIENCES using game content and real-time restrictions"

does that mean it's prerendered or not? because of the end part of the sentence maybe they're trying to make a joke out of the "prerendered" deal with Killzone 2?

but it looks amazing. games like this, darksector, wardevil, project offset

I like the graphics, not too dark, shiny or bloomy. I still believe that the best games this generation are not going to come down to technical graphical achievement; But, rather to artistic style.
BINGO!

Though I think the graphics are just alright...looks too "doomish" to me.

i dont get the point of releasing rendered screens of a game and nobody even knows what the game looks like while playing. I would say the gfx were great but thats normal for CGI gfx.

I don't think i'll be getting it now anyway, just watched the trailer and the monster thing in the end put me off, if it's gonna be like Doom then it's a no no for me since corridor based shooters arn't really my thing.

Yes that monster looked like a freakish seal lol, but I still want this game.

Now I want a Doom3 360 port.

This is a proof of concept trailer. Theres no real game at this point.

When u read the press release it says that they are 'wanting' to use the Unreal 3 engine.

so this is vaporware at best for the momment.

Multiplatform is a direct result of costy development. Everything will most likely trickle out on every platform of economic viability eventually, especially things that start their life on the 360 as the PS3 will inevitably be the more popular platform.

I see this multiplatform craze as a problem too, and I think it'll especially amount to much teeth grinding from MS in the long run, because none of the really significant first party titles seem to stick on their consoles. Sure enough, Generic Space Shooter X might, just because it's developed on a similar platform (PC), but in the end I don't think people will care.

MS even showed some interest in strong first party titles with their own sports lineup for the Xbox, but dropped it like a hot potato once EA were on board. Now we're playing the same titles whether we've got PS2's or Xboxes. Top Spin gained popularity not only because it was a good tennis title, it also had the sense of "belonging" to Xbox owners.

Looking back at a lot of the classic consoles you can see similar trends there. Some games, regardless of developer, belong to a certain platform. The fans of that platform identify with it, and they share that bond several years later when they meet and realise they were both Saturn owners, and of course they played that SIGNIFICANT title for only their console. Guardian Heroes and Dragon Force weren't put on Saturn only because of exclusivity deals, either. Another depressing fact of today's industry.

With games like this one there is no intention whatsoever to find a "home" for the game. There's no intention of making a certain gamepad "THE" pad to play the game with, and no one audience for which this is "their" game. Yeah, that's stuff I think about - stuff I find saddening.

When I say all that people often go "But, but but but, you like Splinter Cell! Doesn't that make you a nutty self-contradicting penis?" But it's like... Who in their right mind didn't play Splinter Cell on Xbox?
Exactly and who didn't play any of the Metal Gear Solid games. ;p

I'm glad someone finally looked past all the "omg this looks awesome lol!" posts. This is just an IDEA of what the game MIGHT look like. Conisdering they're lined up to put it on the UE3 engine, I'm sure it won't be far off from this, but seriously people. Get your facts straight.

Its not prerendered, its created with the ingame engine. Its just showing something scripted instead of actual gameplay.

At least thats what I think

You were right on the result of development costs is the rising number of cross platform titles, but the second part here I disagree with.

By being 1st out the gate MS did 4 things that ensure excellent support, maybe even more than Sony over the next couple years:

1.) Get a number of exclusives, by default
2.) Position themselves as a market leader until at least ~2008
3.) A lot of dev kits with tools that make PC-360 codevelopment a no brainer
4.) MS has a ton of exclusives

On the first point, MS already has a number of exclusives that are worth talking about: PGR3, Kameo, CoD2, Oblivion, DoA4, Condemned, Quake 4. CoD2, GRAW, Oblivion, and FNR3 have all sold exceptionally well -- which is VERY encouraging for 3rd parties. MS has also gotten a number of "timed" exclusives by being early like GRAW and FNR3.

This is significant because come 2007 a lot of these titles will drop to $30-$40. With the move to 65nm MS will drop price, and seeing a $199 core with $30 AAA games will be very tempting.

On the second point, Sony will have 6M units out by April 1st, 2007 at the earliest. MS will have in the 12M range by then, almost ensuring a lead into 2008. Publishers are in the game to make money. Developers are not going to ignore 12M next gen units in the wild. If anything we are going to see more titles that would have been PS3-only go multi-platform. We have already seen this with titles like RE5. Further, we are seeing even PC games get on board with CoD3 now console exclusive.

Sony will sell more units this generation, but MS has set themselves to be in a market leadership position for the next 18-24 months. Software takes 24-28 months to develop. So if I start a game right now I would be crazy to ignore >50% of the market. Even if MS only had 40% of the market it would be fiscally unsound to not support MS. If at the end of 2008 Sony has 24M units and MS only 18M you still want to hit those 18M units. Even more consider a) 3rd party software is selling great and b) the 360 should be relatively cheap by then and will be gaining mainstream acceptance.

On the third point, the 360 is guaranteed a steady flow of PC talent. When the Xbox1 shipped a lot of PC games did not initally make it to the Xbox1. I thought this was a mistake. MS was trying to make a name for itself... but now that they have the gates are open. MS chased CoD2 and Quake 4, the have BFME2 coming, snagged Oblivion, etc. With XNA slowly being introduced it will become an even more vital part of the PC industry.

On the other side of the coin, CELL is a monster in performance but a monster to port PC titles to. It is like re-developing the game and to stick out it would need to be specialized to take advantage of CELL. While RSX will help porting, the tools and architecture are not as friendly.

On the final point, MS is no longer in the position of needing to prove themselves. Besides the exclusives mentioned above, MS has a slew of software coming out way that is MS-platform exclusive: Halo 3, Forza 2, Fable 2, Jade Empire 2, Too Human, Mass Effect, Crackdown, Blue Dragon, Wolfenstein, Gears of War, Shadowrun, Viva Pinata, Fear, GTR, Star Trek: Legacy, Lost Odyssey, Test Drive, Lost Planet, Saint's Row, Prey, Huxley, on an on.

This in turn generates sales and adoption. Xbox1 never had it this good.

Another key is LIVE. This time it shipped with the Xbox 360. Further, MS has been STRONGLY pushing Coop and has a very robust XBLA. This all differentiate the product and open doors for more 360-specific content. The fact the 360 is seeing an RTS says a lot.

With all the exclusive content coming (and here) and the close PC relationship, in addition to excellent features and being ahead of Sony on the price curve, will keep MS in an excellent market position through 2008.

This in turn will generate strong 3rd party support.

From there it is up to MS to further differentiate their product with solid 1st party software and solid 3rd party exclusives.

But I see no reason why MS will be dropped any time soon. Sony has strong Japanese support, but MS has won over the PC world and will have an install base edge. MS also has deep pockets.

but hey this is what the campaign looks like. But when you play online multiplayer all this character models and monsters are gonna be gone, and be straight shoot to kill. But I think if they are gonna use the UE3 It wont look bad. Once the character are not wearing their suits or showing their face they look like plastic dolls. but once their are in motion, shooting and eveything in the armor then nobody (atleast the fans, like me) gonna notice that kind of crap about how ugly it is gonna be. I am just gonna have fun playing online.
