Xbox 360 PS3

Rainbow Six Vegas was present during the last E3, but for some reason wasn't as hyped as expected by the press. And it's even stranger after having seen this long video showcasing the E3 level, as it certainly looks like a great game!
Update 2: The complete video is now available, and as a bonus for waiting so long, a 720p version too!

Lebato is right, Rainbow Six: Vegas is using UE3.

The page is pretty accurate. One error is that someone recently moved Bioshock to UE3. This is incorrect. One of their guys made a comment about moving to UE3, but when asked again at a later time if they were using UE3 he would not confirm this, and instead talked about how they were on 2.5 but have redone almost all the rendering, etc... so it is all their own. From the comments together it sounds like they are using some UE3 tools, but the base is UE2.5. Not that that is bad as it supports multipass bump-mapping (normal map/bump map/specular map/diffuse map/gloss map/environment map/opacity map/mask map etc), per-pixel lighting and per-pixel shading, virtual displacement mapping, high dynamic range rendering, soft shadows and other modern graphical features present in the DirectX 9/OpenGL feature Set.

sorry, OT, i know, but...

...can someone please answer me these (two) questions:

- how do you connect a wireless keyboard to the 360? do you need to plug some kind of usb-receiver into the back of the xbox, or will the xbox "recognize" the keyboard by itself?
- where can i find a list of supported (wireless) keyboards for the 360?

thanks for any answer!
regards, rezehnder

oh... and RainbowSix:Vegas will soooo gone rock!!! ;)

It should be noted that there is no PS3 footage of this game yet.

So this is still X360. I'm not saying graphics will improve for the PS3 version but it's worth noting that it might.

This game looks medicore to me. Something of a pick up and play when you are tired or something...Not that interesting.

Pick up and play when your tired? I guess you have no idea what Rainbow Six is about.

It won't be as tactical as the PC original but atleast too the level of GRAW

Nice. Seems to chug a little bit still when they crash through the glass and when there was an explosion.

Draw disance is really nice.

I've played Rainbow Six, can't remember which one and it was quite pick up and play to me.
Slowly move through rooms, shoot enemies, order teammates to blow some doors etc....Not that interesting.

I couldn't play online though but my brother kept bragging on about how great it is online.

This is definately the most impressive Rainbow Six game to date. Wow! this is xbox 360? This is what I expect from a next gen title. The PS3 version will probably look the same but who is to say about the animation. It may be better or just as good as the 360 version. I wonder how different the AI will be with the new processors?

Before you Jump to conclusions, I would suggest taking a look at this Hi-Res image for the game. I think it's safe to say that aside from great gameplay the graphics are at the MGS4 level. You might even notice some cool effects in one particular shot where a bomb explosion actually warps the carpet. I just think the images provided by playsyde are too lo-res to judge so look at the links attached. -elfuego

I know lots of 360 guys from the XBoxyde visit this page as well so my question is, if it ran with a better framerate on PS3 would you buy a PS3 even though you have 360 already?

Not saying it will be better or anything, just putting up a hypathetical question.

Thats a rather large 'if.' And one which i personally don't think will happen, at least with first-year PS3 titles. Its widely agreed that the PS3 is harder to develop for than the xbox 360. So squeezing a better framerate out of a system that is harder to code for and isn't very much more powerful (if at all) than the 360 will be pretty hard.

Last i heard, they didn't have final Dev kits yet.

Lets say Sony uses Magic to make PS3 run faster. (Hypathetical question)

Would you buy PS3 if it was able to run Rainbow at 45fps instead of lets say 360 is locked at 30fps.
