looks like these are mock up shots, looks loads better in motion.
every game these days gets pictures released that are not in game,i dont know why they bother as it doesnt rep the game in any way

It does, but other than that it look rather impressive. Maybe even good enough to distract from the jaggies with enough light effects.

Seems like a Max Payne sequal. Nice !

Even if it did look this jagged, you probably wouldn't notice it when its running in motion, bullets and debris flying in all directions.. and so much other eye candy going on.

Great to see Agent Smith making a Cameo in the second picture, should be a battle to remember >_<

I haven't played a good third person shooter since Max Payne 2 (minus Gears of War), this looks like a lot of fun and I love destructible enviroments.

Not on 360 atleast, not at the moment. I wonder if Epic could add it in future releases of the engine. Every UE3 shot we've seen in the last couple of days has had AA, though they're probably just bullshots.

Can't wait to play this game, I love Hard Boiled, Max Payne, and Psi-Ops..can't go wrong here.

It looks very impressive. You won't notice any jaggies when it's running, just like in GoW.

I just hope the gameplay turns out to be good.

I don't believe UE3 doesn't support AA, that would be stupid beyond believe..

I'm not really impressed by the charactermodel details in this game sofar, especially in the 1st screenshot.. But I guess we'll have to wait until the game is ready and see it in motion..

Gears of War and R6:Vegas have zero AA. Gears manages to come away with great image quality despite it.

That 2 Xbox 360 games that use UE3 don't use AA doesn't mean UE3 doesn't support AA.. Releasing such a next-gen game engine without support for AA would be extremly weird, especially on PC..

Well, Epic said the engine doesn't support AA on 360, the PC version supports anti-aliasing obviously. Epic has confirmed on multiple occations that the version of UE3 that they're currently licensing for 360 does not include MSAA though. Perhaps they could hack it into the renderer in the future, but so far, no AA.

And it's not just two games, Mass Effect, Stranglehold, Brothers In Arms, etc are all lacking AA as well. I don't think any UE3 game on the platform currently sports anti-aliasing, and I think that unless they change the package they're licensing to third parties, no games will for some time.

Jacob- Will UE3.0 support predicated tiling to make use of 4xAA on Xbox 360?

Sweeney- Gears of War runs natively at 1280x720p without multisampling. MSAA performance doesn't scale well to next-generation deferred rendering techniques, which UE3 uses extensively for shadowing, particle systems, and fog.

We’re going to have some terrific motion blur and depth of field, but
there probably won’t be Full Scene Anti-Aliasing. We’ll do things
that’ll give us a similar effect, but again we’re speaking on the
engine side of things so it’s not really my department. I’m not a big
fan of jaggies though, so we’ll do whatever we can to get rid of those.

Well, then that's just stupid.. Either something is wrong with UE3 or with the socalled next-generation deferred rendering techniques (whatever that may be)..

Hey Gears still looks pretty great without AA. It holds up really well on large flat panel screens, even. Can't be so sure that every other UE3 game will, but one could hope for as much.

Personally I think Gears looks much better than pretty much anything else, despite having no anti-aliasing.

UE3.0 has its own edge filtering on 360, rather than using the tiling, no idea why, but im pretty sure they could support the 360s tiling if they bothered to add it

Well I do miss Max Payne 3, hopefully it will have a nice story. Oh and Demo is a must for this one, or else...

Looks superb from gameplay videos ive seen also the full destructive enviroment awesome definately on my list for one to look forward to.

Yeah, a demo would be nice. So far the game looks really nice.

I'd rather have no AA and a higher framerate. Saints Row is a perfect example (runs like crap even inside a shop with four walls), though I dont think Volition should be used as an example for the industry.
