The First 10 minutes: Rain

The First 10 minutes: Rain

As promised last week here are the first 10 minutes of Rain (aka Vampire's Rain here), released on 360 in Japan with a PS3 release announced for sometimes later. I did not have time to go further than the first part of the tutorial so it's definitely too early for my opinion, but I can already say that this game makes me appreciate Ubisoft's work on Sam Fisher's movements a lot more than before!

If you want to order this game : Follow this link. Japanese/Asian 360 required.

The another reason why I call it is that you are hunting vampires, not that I am a vampires fetish, but it has the supernatural feeling to it, like FEAR, so thats another one to add on the PROS list.

Well Jolli, I think the reason to add English in a Japanese game from beginning to end, is to have a mainstream people from US to pick this up, kind of like Lost Planet.
Now I havent played the Japanese version of LP so I dont know if JAP language is optional or not...ah well.

The animations are not good... in my opinion.. Still like to play splintercell... than this

Beyond the obvious lip-sync issues, really bad dialogue, a little screwy animation when the character hoist themselves up from ledges. They essentially just ascend directly up. That just seems wrong.

Also, why bother with the gun if you can essentially run around with noone stopping you? :)

If this wasn't made by Ubisoft, I'd have said they blatantly ripped off Splinter Cell..but well can I still say that? :)

I've just played the game for about an hour (give or take) and can say that while the game isn't perfect, the premise is pretty cool. It seems as if they've certainly adopted a lot of design ideas from the likes of Splinter Cell and Metal Gear, but it's put it together in a way that I didn't quite expect.
So for first impressions: as a full-priced title, it seems not to be worth it. Perhaps as a budget title, it would be a great addition to the library of any horror game fan. It just seems as if there should be more, not only in terms of gameplay but even in terms of presentation where the environments seem blocky and lack imagination.

I'm looking forward to seeing what they can do with a PS3 version; perhaps they can improve animations and work up the textures a bit to make it seem more "nextgen" for the gamers out there looking for more bang for their buck.

I like what i've seen so far, a few hiccups here and but its not a bad looking game after watching the first 10 minutes and learning a little about the story.

BlimBlim, any chance you could post some footage of the bad guys (vampires?) to see how they react in action sequences.

25% of the moves from Splinter Cell, the call system of Metal Gear, and vampires.

...well...instant classic, isn't it?

I like it to be honest.

the graphics look pretty good to me, and gameplay looks good.

i might pick it up, the videos have changed my mind alot..thanks. Hope to see some more videos with fighting against the enemies

*NOTE*

when i clicked rain part 2 (44.92MB) (640X360) it played part 1. Had to choose (1280X720) version to see part 2

I tried, I *really* *really* tried, but I simply can't play this game. It's pure infiltration, if you are seen by a vampire you are as good as dead. There is no way to kill any of them, you simply have to avoid every single one of them.
And it's something I simply can't do. There is something inside my head that prevents me from doing anything remotely like stealth. Heck, I had a very time with Zelda Wind Waker stealth sequence...
No more video until someone comes home and plays the game.

Yeah, video tomorrow. Too bad the game pretty much requires you to understand japanese to be good.

feel free to say it's ripped straight off splinter cell and MGS cos ubisoft had nothing to do with this, matter of fact they were light years ahead of this level of game design with Splinter Cell 1 not to even sniff Chaos theory or Double Agent.

The voice acting and the script in total is complete trollop ...they obviously couldn't afford mocap cos the animation is turd, on the evidence of the 20 minutes action free sequence (even mario gives you some action straight off the bat) I imagine there's loads more "filler segments" to attempt to bulk up the story...

ps2 grapics ...the water effect when he took a dip in the sewer was less than ps2 tbh, chaos theory on xbox rendered rain far better and the wet fabric effect as well...

it's 2007 and this is launching on the 360 and the PS3?!?! can any sympathisers compare this with GRAW?! a 2006 title, or the mass onscreen AI on Kameo? if this was a launch title it would still be below par ...and you know it's gonna carry the same price tag as Splinter Cell? the game should carry C+ rating ...CRAP! and then some.

I've never posted here but I love xboxyde for great vids but this really extracts the urine

Who buy these games anyway, except for the rabid Japanese game fans that will buy anything that has something to do with Japan.

Clearly this is an extremely low budget company (atleast I'd assume that from looking at this footage) and I wonder how they can make a profit at all out of a game like this...

They are the same company that did 95% of the work on Blue Dragon :D

I don't know what everyone is talking about. For a Japanese game, it had solid voice acting, good dialogue and funny at times, and good graphics. Athough after 20 minutes and no shooting seemed disappointing after watching all that.
Could be interesting, character models are decent. Cutscenes are great, even if there's no action. Is Lloyd a vampire himself? How did he survive that? He must've killed all those people himself!

I'm glad I downloaded the videos instead of just taking the opinions of the comments.

The graphics are pretty decent and hunting down vampires in the night using stealth sparks a certain interest in me.

I will pick up this game when I get the chance
