A little bit more than 3 years ago, Snoopers, Eloniss and I announced the creation of new site we were doing for fun: Xboxyde. What was just a small site were we wanted to post stuff for a few friends became a very big and somewhat difficult to keep up with site. And guess what, we want more of that!
Let's start with the numbers, because I know you like that
- 3351 news
- 2697 files, 120 GB of disk space
- 102 "the first 10 minutes"
- 2204 galleries, 27715 images
- 17705 activated users
- 14060 topics on the forum
- 308424 messages
- 2583 of them in 'boulet time' mode
- 94 users banned at least once
- 19792 instant messages
Let's continue with the statistics, as always they are very good since September has been our best month ever: 586 552 unique distinct visitors and nothing less than 9 212 357 pageviews ! (xiti)
I'm still very happy that the forum is a space where we can (mostly) have some good adult conversations with not much trolling or name calling. The moderation teams, french or english, do an excellent job stopping most flamewars before they happen, and the usage of both "boulet time" and user banning is going down in the last few weeks. Keep up the good work everyone!
The future now, because that's the most important thing for us. Some big changes should happen in the not so distant future. I can't say anything about this yet, but I can tell you that these will be *good* changes, allowing us to give you guys a better content, and some even better news coverage. We are very excited about all this, but keep in mind that the core of what makes Xboxyde what it is will stay the same.
Thanks a lot to everyone, the anonymous readers, the forum fanatics, the news writers, the moderators, Manager who's been awesome and that we really miss when he's having fun in the woods, and even that Snoopers guy no one here likes. Without you this site would have been stopped a long time ago! Also thanks a lot to the publishers who are finally starting to support us a bit more seriously, and of course thanks a lot to Microsoft for their support since day one via their PR agency Heaven.
But they haven't stayed consistent. In BF1 the best vanilla SMG is *by far* the hardest to unlock. (8 Hours ago)
Example: the best AR in BF3/4 is the AEK and it's one of the first guns you unlock in both games. (8 Hours ago)
@Tinks: Right.. a lot of their unlocks avoid this issue by putting all the best stuff at the front of the unlock tree. (8 Hours ago)
the unlock rate is bad when it means gaining perk advantages against others with less playtime. (9 Hours ago)
and then letting you use those weapons against users who don't have them has always seemed wrong to me (15 Hours ago)
@MikeManiac61: I don't mind the unlock rate too much (although there are a few exceptions in BF1) since they frontload the best weapons a lot of the time. But locking good weapons behind DLC (15 Hours ago)
@GriftGFX: Having the same sentiments. It's reminding me of Battlefront 2 and their system where you have to grind so much for an unlock. (15 Hours ago)
