Disgea 3 announced on PS3

Nippon Ichi announced during the Playstation Premiere event that the next episode of the very good series Disgea, surprisingly called Disgea 3, would be released in 2008 on PS3. Clearly this game won't overload the Cell processor, graphics have never really been the most important point of these games.

I understand that graphics aren't important in this case, but come on this is ridiculus. The developers are just lazy as hell, cuz this could be a psp game no doubt...

I love Disgaea. Didn't play part 2 but hey, this looks like more of the same strategy-rpg-goodness so i'm all for it but...yeah, the graphics aren't exactly jaw-dropping. One would have hoped for at least some improvement, but this really looks like a ps2 game.

Shouldn't this be on the Wii? I kind of expected all the non-blockbuster games to switch to it. Never played the games, though, and I doubt this will interest me.

I'd gladly pay full price for Disgaea 3 as the series is in my all time top 5 =P As much as the visuals look far from revolutionary, they still got a lot of time to sharp it up... HD Sprites!

It's one of few Japanese games with relatively deep gameplay. It's a shame it's on PS3 only though, but if Nippon Ichi doesn't like money that other platforms' users offer it's their problem I guess.

OMG people if you played Disgaea you would know that it is the best SRPG on any system, well second best FF Tactics is still number one. The graphix dont matter the gameplay does !

I'm not bashing the game at all though, I think there's a good chance it will be a very solid SRPG I just think the platform choice is a bit odd.. unless their using some of the PS3's other features, don't ask me how though. As it is though I just don't see the logic in releasing this for the PS3 and not the PS2.. especially when the PS3's backwards computability is so high.

OK I was a bit pissed of because of people bashing this game 'cos of it's outdated grapix, but in the end I must agree it could look better at least a bit :) But there is still time who knows maybe it will look better.

Ok Im pissed! Its quite clear non of you ever played a game from the disgea series at all! Disgea games have the most well thought out storyline with like 10 multiple endings, the best strategy systems that they recreate each game so that each one feels different, a crap load of weapons that are upgradeable by the thousands, hundreds of characters with they're own unique animations random maps etc. Nipponichi isnt close to being lazy! Yes I wish they up the rez on the sprites, but they do almost everything from scratch each game! They dont go " oh this works lets just update the graphic and rehash the same game". So dont knock one of the best RPG companys out there if you know nothing about the game or the style. They purposely seem to keep it on the low side each gen. Maybe they might up the rez some if its on ps3 later. I hope it gets released on other consoles. I dont plan to EVER pick up a ps3! Sorry...Im 360 and Wii all the way...though Im waiting for Wii to pick up from its drought of games I like, 360 seems like it cant get enough great games fast enough! Nipponichi please port to ps2!
