Xbox 360

As a way to prove once and for all that they did not have to remove content from the game due to space limitation, Bizarre Creations released this image of Project Gotham Racing 4 showing the variety of environments in the game, along with how the dynamic weather can alter how they look.

Forza 2 will still hold the gold for racing sim in my book but pgr har allways been a good arcade racer and this looks stunning.

Argh... if they keep releasing more and more awsome racing games Im gonna have to buy a racing chair and 2 more HD TVs.... :P

Looks very nice, but I hear Gran Turismo 5 will also feature real-time weather. Frankly I prefer GT above PGR in terms of simulation, and Burnout above PGR in terms of arcade. Sorry, Bizarre, but middle of the road just doesn't cut it for me!

Forza is purely sim, PGR is pretty much purely an Arcade racer...cant compare GT to PGR, or Forza to PGR..its either GT or Forza because they are both sim racers, PGR cant really be compared to them gameplay wise

Fantastic stuff.. I wonder when/if we'll ever see a demo. This is easily among my most anticipated 360 releases this year. Can't wait..

so what is it? A mixture of both? That's what I'd say.

PGR was and remains a must buy for me.. It's a fun racer with very cool graphics and perfect mix of realistic and arcady gameplay imho.. Great online MP game aswell..

PGR3 was the reason I bought an Xbox 360..

I'd say it's an arcade racer, personally. I'm not sure who thinks those are simulation physics, but they're.. not! It's not over the top, like Burnout.. but it's still no simulator. And that's fine by me.

I would call it an exaggerated simulator. It is like driving a car in movies like Bullit, French connection or Miami vice; it feels realistic though you know it is not viable to drive like that in one take for real. But it FEELS real.

no one ever said they had to cut content, that was sony fanboys, they just said they dont have room for different time cycle textures, bare in mind a city takes ~1GB, that would be ~2GB for night and day textures, and a complete waste of time, since as they did with pgr3, it can be done with lighting and other effects

I think it was a pretty fair interpretation of their own comments, really.. blown out of proportion? Maybe.. but they should check their words more carefully if that's the case.

Regardless, no day/night toggle isn't a huge loss considering what we're getting in return. The amount of additional content and features represented here are a bit step over what we got in PGR3.. so it's pretty hard to get upset regardless.

What do you say we seek Demos for our answers:

*Forza Motorsport 2 Demo: 691 MB
*DiRT Demo: 769 MB
*MotoGP '06 Demo: 883 MB
*MotoGP '07 Demo: 901 MB
*Nascar 08 Demo: 589 MB
*Project Gotham Racing 3 Demo: 1.3 GB
*Test Drive Unlimited Demo: 738 MB

Some of these demos include more then one track and over 20+ cars. Also when you factor in that the final product will have way better compression then this build you can see why DVD-9s work so good for this generation.

IMHO the textures for an entire city might be around 500 to 700 MB seeing as this game includes 9 cities and 1 track.

I wasn't trying to spark a disc size debate.. I think the reasons for the DVD9 format on the Xbox 360 is pretty obvious.. and I don't believe games have suffered horribly for it at all. I do think there is definitely merit to larger format optical discs, even at this point in time.. but again, I wasn't trying to spark that debate.

Gorgeous. This will be the overall graphical measuring stick for racing games for a long time. It's one thing to have megarez bullshots pointing at cars alone and have ridiculously bad environments, but its another thing to deliver the highest possible quality on all fronts.

Must have a demo.

I loved PGR3, it was really damned pretty, and this just looks... incredible.

Day one purchase, I've skipped on other racers for this one.

And I can't wait to see the new garages, pure eye candy, hope they make it into this sequel (not seen any yet).
