GC07: 54 seconds of Halo 3

GC07: 54 seconds of Halo 3

We are a bit sorry about releasing such a rather uninteresting and short video of Halo 3, but it's better than nothing I guess. So here are 54 seconds, intro included, of the single player mode of Halo 3, from the now famous level Tsavo Highway. We hope to get some more soon, and we'll have multiplayer footage online within the next hour or so.

I'm not liking these urban environments.

ok, consider me half converted, graphics in that looked pretty nice...but i think that was mainly the lighting more then anything

just a question, but why does the door in this pic look like its been drawn by a child?

perhaps something to notice:
maybe this is an early build because theres only space for 3 granade types
and ther should be 4
or maybe it will be 4 once the forth type is picked up
but the early build might be from before they announced the fire granade since its not on here

and i'd like to say i think this is the ultimate proof that screenshots do games no justice, halo 3 looks amazing in motion. ive seen some outside videos too, the sheer scale!!!!!!!! :)!!!!!!!!

@ Korndog,
maybe its because you took a screenshot of a shakey onscreen camera???
DUHHHhruehurehsaj\pfoidk
i'm sure they dont want doors to look like they were drawn by a child, and im sure they wont lol how hard can it be to make a door look right when theyve achived 4 player coop

why does master chief still use a flash light from the 20th century. Surely there should be some uber form of night vision in his helmet!?!!?

with no flashlight you wouldnt be able to see the bump mapping. the beta had some awesome bump mapped surfaces, but you couldnt see the damn things unless a grenade was going off or a warthog was driving by.

looks nice, but i gotta say, the indoor dark environments blow the daylight bright environments out the water. the lighting from the flashlights/floodlights/warthogs looks insane. outdoors tho it just looks like the beta to me.

im not being negative, im being critical. the indoor environemnts do look better then outdoor tho, they just show off the lighting effects WAY better. outdoor it doesnt even look like theres bump mapping. indoors its all over the place, and very well done too.

The outdoor lighting, and more specifically the transition from indoors to outdoors, shows of the HDR extremely well. I think the lighting is the one aspect of the visuals that's really great. That and draw distance--which you aren't getting much of from indoor scenes.

But, on the other hand, at least you have the nerve to be critical about Halo :)

so short ,no sound and low quality , thanks i guess , other pages already have higher quality including the multiplayer map sandtrap.

watching this videos makes it a bit harder to wait for Sept 25

yeh same here i not much of fan of that either, but i did chuckle at the thought that flash light technology hadnt progressed.
All I was thinking was that suit should be geared up with some more inovative ideas, like Halo 2 they brought dual welding weapons.

In the first Halo everyone complained about the game having superb outdoor environments, but ugly, repeating indoor environments.

Now they fixed that... and get different complaints. :)

I think it looks great and it will be lots of fun to play it together with 3 friends.

best regards,
ScarJack

I must say that this video doesn't impress me much, but I saw the ones on IGN and those made me believe in Halo once again.

September will be good :)

Speaking of work, it's kind of funny that whenever I bring up an image or a video on my laptop everyone hovers around my desk. And they're supposed to be Halo haters. Hmmmm.

KORNdog, there's nothing wrong with being critical but that video is just TOO dark to judge the game's visual fidelity.

I personally wouldn't base a critical viewpoint on a such a low quality vid, certainly not the screen grab that you used.

i dont understand. im praising the game...i actually prefare the indoor, dark video to anything else i've seen. it looks awesome cos the lighting effect really stand out, the door was just an observation. its also shown in the IGN one too. it looks like its being drawn, but still its only a minor critisizm....the outdoor environments, which people seem to be creaming over, look crap in MY eyes. the lighting effects go out the window and everything just looks so flat. again. i can only judge the game on what i've seen. im sure when i pick the game up myself i can judge it more fairly, but as it stands, this is all i can work with.

Actually I thought you were right about the door, but I still honestly can't tell from this video. That's the only point I was making. It's just too dark and low res to make a solid call on it.

I thought it looked awesome, it has the same effect as the ground, looks slimy and wet. Yum. :-)

Holy crap, good thing I downloaded that. The graphics and lighting are amazing, and finally I see Marines injured like it should have been in Halo 2, but they never put that into the game. The textures are SO detailed, and the fire was very ambient. This does not disappoint :).
