GC07: Exclusive Halo 3 footage

We want to thank Microsoft, Bungie and most of all Brian Jarrard for the awesome exclusivity we just landed since we managed to shoot the 17 minutes long presentation of the single player part of Halo 3. This is the first part that's just supposed to be a small sample of the good stuff to come as soon as we make sure our servers are not melting. It showcases the incredible replay feature on the Tsavo Highway level you"ve all come to know and love already. Have fun :)
Update: First gameplay video showing the very beginning of the level.
Update 2: And the second one is online :)
Update 3: Third part of the presentation is online.
Update 4: Last update for today, with the second to last part of the presentation.
Update 5: And here comes the last part! The full presentation will be available in the next few days.

Halo 3 gona have the highest replayability.
There will be alot of user-generate content out there, especially video.

Well I can say for being against Halo quite a tad bit they sure seems to at least impress me a tiny bit, unsurten if I pick the game up at launch or not but at least it seems to be an OK game.

In freeze mode, it's all cool n' dandy, but in slo-mo everthing Shutters ... like they don't use enough FPS to make that effect smooth.

It isn't smooth because they are not interpolating the animations. It is a recording, so think of it as 1/6th speed, so you see every frame 8 times before the next one. That means you get 5 frames in 1 second (if at 30fps). And unlike a video slowed down, games lack all the object based motion blur (a single film frame can be pretty blurry with action on it as it is capturing everything during the 1/24th second period).

They could artificially interpolate the animations, but that could probably cause some bugs. So just replaying the actual animation data and placement is the easiest and most stable route.

Now that I think about it though, it will cause some problems in machinima if you want to do a slowmo shot :(

On the other hand, I hope they added a ton of PGR3 style filters and exposure settings.
