To wait until our Gamersyde Diaries, here are the first five minutes of Mass Effect as we discovered them during the parisian presentation of the game. These five minutes take place just after the character creation phasis, and here we have the pleasure to control a "charming" lady wearing audacious make-up.

Commented on 2007-09-17 21:56:36 In reply to acm2000the boss battle was ridiculous. it looked like they were shooting water guns at each other. and the entire time, he's not even aiming at anything. I think there's a reason they weren't showing any real combat. they botched it. they spent too much time on cut-scenes and not enough on gameplay. I guess we'll find out soon enough...

Commented on 2007-09-17 22:05:53You would imagine that the people demonstrating the game have played the game enough to be very good at it. But most of the combat looks like an amateur is playing it. In as much as this game is about the story and all that, they've chosen to go with a shooter-style fighting mechanism and it'd be a shame to see that aspect not work out..

I never actually tried switching it off mind, I quite liked it :)
Also I wouldn't say it's a chore to look around...bizarre comment. The combat controls felt tighter with each build to me. Nothing particularly new, but they worked. Ordering your squad to certain positions felt very fluid.

ME has been hammered by criticism since the beginning over everything from screen caps without post processing to gameplay in various builds of the game.
I have no doubts that Bioware will deliver on ME and in late November all of the doubting would have been forgotten.
