Images of Disgaea 3

Nippon Ichi sends us a giant new batch of screens for the role-playing strategy (SRPG) game Disgaea 3 planned as an exclusive Playstation 3 title at the end of January 2008 in Japan. A new gang of characters is installed, including Mao, Raspberyl, Almaz and Jiiya at their Maritsu Evil Academy school. They, along monsters, have really bad looking sprites. If I wouldn't have specified the platform, who would have thought?

Still looks like a PS2-game. Is this game going to retail at full price? If it was a game for PSN i could understand the graphics, but for a retail title it's scandalous.

They can't produce Tech. to Improve their Games, so don't go to more Advanced Hardware... Make This for the PSP/DS, or quit already.

Wrong!

This game gives you more than 100 hours of gameplay. Much more than most games on the market.

If you don't like the gender don't buy the game. It's as simple as that.

No offense ;)

I love Disgaea hour of darkness, i played it for many hours on end and it was great. Great sense of humor, good battle system and so forth, but if i'm going to shell out for a new game i want more than recycled sprites and polycounts that would make a ps2 embarrassed. If anything this looks like an expansion. I don't know what the pricing will be for this game but i can tell you that i wouldn't pay full price for it. I'd rather get the PSP-version in that case, a format more befitting their lack of technical prowess.

7 140 Yen (normal edition) = roughly 62.5 USD
9 240 Yen (special edition) = roughly 80.96 USD

In other words, you pay full price.

oh wow, love disgaea 1 & 2. Was going to get disgaea for the psp but read it's the same as 1 w/ extra characters so probably not. Will get this one to add to the collection but too bad the sprites look awful. Then again I sit about seven feet away from the tv so I'll probably not notice.

How the hell did they manage to make the sprites look worse in the sequel than in the original???
But im still going to buy this and play it for 300 hours+ :)

I like to think of myself as a nerd, but even I don't have enough time to play or finish a game like this. I'd rather just fap to all the doujins of it out there.

@Baku

I'm guessing they developed this on the PS2 platform then brought it over to PS3, then PS3's PS2 bc f'd the sprites. The pics look kinda like Disgaea 2 when I play on the PS3

I still wish they released this for PS2, specially as they done nothing to improvei t so far for PS3, they are for sure losing customers, they lost me in any event.

The overlayed character art is quite nice but the main is awful, they really should have redrawn the characters, a game like this on the PS3 should be in 1080p.

I think its safe to say this game won't see the light of day outside of Japan.
To charge full price for a game like this is an utter joke.

you got to think there will be downloadable content for this game aka characters from the playstation store

I honestly think this was a PS2 game for a long time then got bumped up on the PS3 the way people never seem to stop asking Atlus to do with their SMT games of late and - big surprise - it doesn't fly.

On the PS2 this could've been priced lower due to lower license costs but then people would instead get their panties in a bunch over the fact that they'd have to play it on a PS2.

I suppose the real crooks are Sony for totally fucking up BC on the PS3 (after HAVING HAD an ideal solution in place for the first US model) so I guess we all get to be angry with them.

Roar collectively.

What's up?
  • GeRaLTo
GeRaLTo @Baleur: 80% of reviews are written by "drones" .Ign, eurogamer, teamxbox, gamespot etc are nothing but companies. Who cares 'bout theirs "reviews" anyway (57 minutes ago)
  • Baleur
Baleur Why are you discussing reviews anyway? When have reviews ever mattered? They are just individual people writing about their individual opinions. Might as well read reviews on music too then, lol XD (3 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX pfft text! we only care for numbers (4 Hours ago)
  • blmbox
blmbox Yeah, but judging by the content of both reviews, Eurogamer didn't particularly care much for the game anyway. They probably only gave it an 8 to avoid controversy - the review sounded more like a 6. (8 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX 6 to 8 split on Eurogamer, which isn't quite as large but still pretty significant. (9 Hours ago)
  • SimonM7
SimonM7 Yeah sure, but from what console reviews are saying it's perfectly adequate. I mean I'm sure PC is the way to go, but I sincerely doubt we're seeing a 5 to 9 split score wise or anything. (9 Hours ago)
  • GriftGFX
GriftGFX not that the Xbox version is "that bad" by most accounts either.. there are plenty of people here playing it who adore it.. but the PC game is recieving higher marks across the board (9 Hours ago)
