Images of Final Fantasy XIII
2007-11-01 04:18:42 by Kudgel
After the Versus update earlier, we learn more about the principal Final Fantasy XIII title with these new images. It is a Playstation 3 exclusivity which will be available in 2008 for our Japanese friends. Motomu Toriyama, the Final Fantasy X-2 creator, is helming this title so the combat system potential is really good. As for the images, they are CG.

Hmm...2008 in Japan easily means 2009 everywhere else.
We're going to be waiting awhile for this one.

Shiva picture is stunning!
this is final fantasy, which final fantasy game has been an utter disappointment? i find all ff games great jrpgs!
ff13 will follow the same tradition, great characters, great story, great cg movies and quirky japanese humour!
bring it on.
well, i hope the game gives you the option for english subtitles, with the PS3 being region free for games, i would love to import this game with the original japanese voice over and just english subtitles

Still no decent gameplay shots -__-
CG might be nice to look at, but it's unnecessary for both PS3 and Xbox 360.
I don't get it. What's the point of giving next to no information for a year and then release some CG shots?

Whats the point in this screenshots? These pre-rendered stuff are off no use. Everyone can make a fancy movie. Give us gameplay!

Im just happy they are showing anything, in game is ideal, but these are nice too. Enough with the closed door viewings Square Enix.

Personally i find Final fantasy to be a bunch of over pretentious drivel mixed with stale japanse intrigues i've allready seen a hundred times over in different animes and games but for some reason unknown to me is till play every one of them. The ffx2 guy being involved in this does not sound particularly good though...i mean, FFx2 was utterly horrible in everything but the combat. Oh well, when it's time for release i'll probably sit playing this as usual...i just hope it's better than FFX/2.

Ugh finding out the X-2 creator is attached to this has severely dampened my expectations. Maybe that's what I need though seeing as I have had high expectations of many a final fantasy game that has dissapointed.

Beautiful art. But the fact that they're still showing CG makes you wonder about the actual game.

Um That Moogel is from FF12...
And yea these are all CGI pics, I'm starting to wonder if SE has anything in game to show at all.
It's about time that JP dev's start translating during development though, it would make much sense, Kojima I'm looking at you.

And he's right at E3 SE said this themselves, but I guess you know better than the developer.

I highly doubt they'd halt production. This release is inevitable. But I bet they took a serious look at making it multiplatform.

Is that the highest res Lightning shot you have? I know there's an even higher res press shot out there. I want it!

also its kinda sad that Square hasn't released a single real time shot since showing the game at e3 2006. I am pretty sure both XIII and versus XIII were put on hold due to dismal ps3 sales

Nah, I don't see the 360 release happening since the White Enigne was designed to make development on the PS3 easier for Square. Just buy the PS3 if you want it so badly! It's $400 now, will be $300 by the time FF13 comes around.
