Xbox 360 PS3

As the game just went out in the USA and is about to be released elsewhere, here come the 10 first minutes of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. The video, taken from the Xbox 360 version, features the tutorial of the game as well as the well known first mission on the big boat. More gameplay videos to follow quickly, as usual.
Update: Second video is online. Disturbing ingame cutscene, quite awesome as an introduction to the game.
Update2: Third video added. It's the full third mission of the game.
Update3: Fourth video added. It's the short clip in 720p/60fps of the impressive first act's 7th mission .
Update4: Fifth video added. Same level as the previous file, but longer and not in 60fps.

the 5 hour play time is kinda pethetic, but i'll probably end up picking it up since its obviously the next big online game...and since im getting sick of halo 3, this seems like a half decent option. still dont like the whole levelling up system with weapons and perks, far too unballanced imo. by the time i get the game and start playing im gonna be matched up with guys who have all perks unlocked and the best most accurate weapons...just like the beta.

EDIT : lmao at the frenchness. the voices sound so out of place. are these suposed to be the voices of hardened soldiers? cos im not getting that vibe from the franch voice overs.

The best most accurate weapons so far are still the M16 and M4 (from my current selection). The default assault kit is still ass kickingly good, no matter how far behind you are in the game. And so is Spec Ops, considering just how awesome of a spray weapon the MP5 is. Seriously, it's not a big deal, and I generally hate these things more than anyone. The G3 seems very accurate, but it's single shot only in MP; the G36C has the best chance of undoing the M4's position as the best overall weapon (balanced range/close combat), but it's not going to be so huge a difference that you still couldn't win in a fair fight, provided you have more skill.

You also level up really quickly. I'm already level 21, after about five or six hours of multiplayer. I won't deny that these things do give you a possible edge over a new player, I just don't think it's a very big edge. I still use the M16 often, the only difference between the kit I'm using now at level 21 and what I was playing at level 0 (or 1 or whatever) is the increased hip shot accuracy.. which you unlock extremely early and while it's extremely useful, so is the perk it's replacing.

Maybe they don't mention it because it doesn't matter? Is 'runs smooth' not good enough for you?

I always thought fps was just an issue on PC's.. There it depends on what hardware you have and what settings you run the game at, but on consoles there's always just 1 setting and 1 type of hardware..

And it's not like you will notice lack of fps using a controller anyway is my experience, compared to mouselag which can be very annoying on the PC..
You notice it with a control pad. Why on earth wouldnt you ? Framerate is definatly an issue on whatever platform you play on.

all i know is that if it plays the same as the beta im going to feel that its unballanced. half the time it just didnt feel fair. and 99% of the time the only people who seemed to be able to kill me where those who had that gun with the red dot sight. something you dont get untill you're higher level.

Red dot you get pretty early on as far as I can remember from the beta.. I agree that's one of the biggest advantages you can gain as it makes aiming a lot easier..

That is really fast.. Means a lot of people will probably max out to level 55 within a week.. Doesn't that take the fun out a bit?

the thing is tho, im fine with the leveling system and weapons and perks etc. i just dont like the fact a high level, full perks, better weapons guy can be matched up with a guy just starting out. it seems unfair. maybe thats just me.

^^ Weren't you saying before how unfair it seemed to you that when you finally do get the game, you get put up against people with a higher level and the perks?
Anyway it's a good game simply because Harry does the music. Thanks Harry!

PS: It's weird how he can make movies and other games feel like Metal Gear.

No, it'a nor enough for me and for many others i know. I find a tremendous difference from 30 fps (witch is already smooth) and 60 fps.

And Nakano, the game does indeed run at 60 FPS(360 here, PS3 should be the exact same), no slowdowns, just amazing that the game looks this good and runs this good.
thank you Dunpeal.

I just saw the game running at a friend's house who bought the import version, and i must say it's amazing visually and gameplay wise.
A real contender for GOTY imo.

Super mario galaxy, Mass effect and maybe Uncharted are candidates for GOTY.I cannot see COD4 get that price because its nothing new and its the same run and gun in First Person Vision......boring!

anyone notice on the level 7 video about a minute in the dude kills one of his own soldiers that's trying to get into position, he is running up and turns to fire and the other comrade runs by as he starts fireing and he like destroys his a**

Uncharted? Are you serious? Goty? I've been reading this (from some select people) on the net, yet, nothing we've seen, or impressions we've read have positioned Uncharted as a GOTy contender, it has been positioned at best as a game to look forward too, likely a great game.

Super Mario Galaxy, Portal, Halo 3, Bioshock, Crysis, Assassins Creed, Mass Effect, these have been positioned as Goty contenders, either by critical acclaim so far, or by the hype generated by the people who got to play/see these games.

COD4 i see competing for Online, and Uncharted for technical excelence. The landscape is too dry, Uncharted would'nt be considered a GOTY runner in any other platform.

I find it so amazing how Infinity Ward achieved such a graphical masterpiece and still kept it at 60fps. It's common for developers to make a trade-off between 60fps and 30fps (most of the time much lower) in order to significantly improve the graphics. But Infinity Ward seems to have achieved at 60fps, a graphical quality that other developers would have been hard pressed to attain at 30fps.

It just seems like such a huge bonus for me that there's an fps for the next-gen consoles that runs at 60fps. I was resigned to thinking, since the Xbox1, that console fps games would only ever be locked at 30fps.

Indeed, after seeing how good Gears of War looked even at 30fps, i was already resigned to thinking that i wouldn't want to play a game even at 60fps anymore if it's graphics wasn't as good as Gears. But COD4 seems to have maintained a good balance and reached a high enough graphical quality, that to see it run at 60fps makes me elevate my whole view about how powerful the xbox360 really is.

Has anybody here seen both the PS3 and 360 version up and running. I would normally buy the 360 version but its just decided to die on me and from what I have heard it could be 6 to 8 weeks when I send it off before it returns from that great MS repair centre in the sky. Because of this I was looking to get the PS3 version when the games out, is there cross platform MP support or anything like that and is the PS3 online as fully featured with friends games etc. Anyway the game looks awesome.

I think people totally overrate the red dot. I don't use it and I seem to hit people fine. I'd rather have the noob tube handy, it's like free kills. I have no problem aiming the M16, or the M4 long range without it.

I'm not sure they actually do, since when? Activision is actually a bigger publisher than EA now, or at least, they have been in recent months.

Wikipedia says they do. So it must be true. Since 2003.
