Deftangel you always manage to spin things in their favor even when you disagree with their actions. Brilliant! ;P
And I don't know about the UK, but games in the USA are certainly more expensive this generation than last, especially when you consider the fact that the value of our dollar isn't exactly on the rise right now. Add to this the ever increasing hidden costs these games come with, and you're looking at one pissed off consumer. Games aren't $60, they're $60 and then some. Never mind the fact that many publishers have started generating additional revenue through (MS owns Massive!) which simply goes to pad their pockets, rather than recoup the cost of post release support... which used to be free.
Next thing you know we'll be paying for a peer to peer network that we host with our own bandwidth, and have advertisements spread across the Xbox 360 dashboard, even for paying customers.. oh, wait, they do that already. :/

the game is so successful that even if a high percentage of players don't buy it, they'll still make bank. You can be upset but remember MS isn't here to make us happy, they're hear to make money. They don't hear our complaints, they only speak money. Don't buy it (fat chance, i know) and they'll lower the price....

Haha I'm not spinning, I'm just speculating. Bungie stuck their neck out to get a fair deal for the Halo 2 DLC and I think that was pretty reasonable when all said and done.
For whatever reason, that hasn't happened this time and you have to ask why. We saw MS play hard ball with Epic, it's not a great leap to focus the accusing fingers in their direction again this time.
If you read the latest interview with Marty O'Donnel, Bungie own themselves wholly there's none of this 51% 49% malarkey going on.

800 MS points? No thanks.
Some people will be stupid enough to pay for these but I'll wait until they are free just like I did with Halo 2.
At the end of teh day you can't blame MS. There are obviously enough stupid people out there paying this sort of money for them to make it worth while. If they piss a few people off then it doesn't matter as long as they make their $.

Bungie and Microsoft obviously held these maps back for later release, and they're obviously not the first to do it, the marketplace has become a huge back pocket for developers/publishers to rake cash into and they're making the most out of it since people are buying this stuff, i mean there are publishers releasing DLC even before their game has hit the shelves now, before developers would try and put everything onto a disc before it went retail, those days are long gone i'm afraid.

I wish they'd release a download which would let me filter out all the Frat Boys and Stoners.

k well im definetly not buying these maps wen they come out, its a rip off. but from what i see from these images, its clear to me now why next gen games never look like what they could be. i guess AA has a lot to do with how good a game looks. hope the next-gen consoles coming out in 7 years use heavy AA. that would be hot sauce.
