Pandemic releases some new images of Mercenaries 2: World in Flames. It doesn't look very good. And what I played back during the Game Convention in Leipzig didn't really convinced me either. Oh, well.
The problem with this game is that they are developing for PS3, 360 and ... PS2. And it shows, they don't really bother creating HD content cause they want to use the 3D models for the PS2 version as well.

No it doesn't - PS2 version is not created by Pandemic and is developed on the Mercs 1 engine, while the next-gen version will be running on a new engine, and games will have different assets. I don't think Mercs 2 on next-gen is a looker, but I also don't think it looks any worse than GTA4 for that matter, if not better.
Yey i can,t wait to play this game. The videos looked great along time ago ... so maybe a new one would be gd to see
As for the GTA 4 vs Mercenaries 2.... emmmmm really diff games in my eyes . both good games but really GTA should look better if we are thinking scale. Also Mere 2 you can blow everything up & i mind readin it was online co-op (don,t hold me to that)
I may be remembering it wrong, but I think Just Cause looks better than this, and that's hugely open world as well (even if the gameplay sucks mostly).
After seeing new images of Just Cause2, how dare anyone here to tell me that GTA4 and MERCS2 suffer from mediocre graphics just because the game is an opened world. If the world's going to look like this, close it up.

Where did you see Just Cause 2 shots? I'm looking forward to that one! Mercs 2 looks fantastic, and the larger open environments and (hopefully) more varied missions could really make the game a winner.

i played mercs 2 on the games convention 2007. the game is great but the graphics where poor at this time. (to many glitches and pop up) this new version looks much better than the version i played. just look at the "we need more time" blog and see how good the improvements are.
there are better destruction of the buildings, sharper textures, greater foresight nearly no pop up and better character and vehicle models.
so believe me this game will rock (and don't compare it with gta IV this are two pair of shoes) gta plays in a city and mercs 2 in a country. gta is gangster style and mercs is war game. for me gta will be better (euphoria engine) but mercs 2 is a definitely must by!!!
just cause 2 looks great but it will be more unrealistic than the two other games. the developers say this in their introduction of the game (more crazy stunts and less realism) graphics are great and hopefully more interactive than in just cause
I'm waiting impatiently for this game, caus the vids we saw, quite a time ago, were very cool. Hm, the grafx are not the best ever seen, but I think they're good enough ^^ Come on guys, you can destroy everything in this game. Just looking at the vids allready was pure fun, how great will it be to play yourself??!!
JC looks good, too. But just grafx is not the important thing. The first was good, but the motivation went down quite fast (imo).
I hope the Just Cause boys get their game out soon because their engine tech blows this mess out of the water. I loved Mercenaries 1 but looks like they're not really trying with this one.
We had bumpmapping and low poly graphics on the xbox1 already, this only adds realtime shadows, 720p and slightly higher texture res. For six times the graphical performance of the system.
Mercs 1 was incredible, and they're enhancing everything that worked from the first one... so I can't see how this game will be bad, even if the graphics don't bring a tear to your eye.
the first game was boring and overhyped, fear the same for this. The locales are just so big and it takes so much time to get from one place to another that it just kills all enjoyment IMO.
