PS3

I wouldn't have guessed to stumble upon the first images of Resistance 2 while my collegues must all be deadened (or drunk). Here is a beautiful utility of the time zones ! Resistance 2 will feature two different campaigns ; one traditionnal for solo play and another one that allows up to eight players coop to frag aliens. Other multiplayer modes allow up to 60 players online at any time.

I believe they could pull it off!

Didn't you read Game Informer? They actually was able to play the game!
The Multiplayer version, not single... at an early state...so at this state if they could play the multiplayer in 60 players, 1080p might not be so far-fetch as everyone thinks... I'm pretty sure RFOM2 is going to be a great hit for PS3 owners!

Deffinently a must own title. If they pull it off with 1080p with 60 MP, 8 co-op online and 2 co-op offline... no lags!? Then this will make history as the first "console game" to achieve 60 players online!

Insomniac has some kahonays!

Actually, in the Game Informer article they talked about playing the 8 player co-op campaign not the 60 player multiplayer. But it's still amazing how far along they are in developement having just released R&C. I'm starting to think these people at Insomniac never sleep.....oh wait.

The level of detail in second pic is crazy. And the art direction overall is also very good.

This game is the reason I'm buying a PS3. Killzone, MGS, and FF can all go burn as far as I'm concerned. This is where it's at.

I just think 60 is a step too far. If they get it working lag free then great but is there really any need to have 60 players in a map. And if there bumping up the graphics like the screenshots suggest im not sure the framerate will hold.
It depends on what you take from the screens. Resistance 1 was a first gen game on a very complex platform. Resistance 2 could be considered 3rd gen (it's their 3rd full game on the platform).

It won't be 1080p at 60fps with that image quality at least.

60 players online would be a feat that even Microsoft wouldn't dare attempt with its 6 yrs plus XBL service. You know even Halo 3 lags,,, even some 2d games on 360 lag...

But with such huge vistas, random geometry(yes, geometry changes in Resistance 2 online maps each time), 60 players onscreen, vehicles and no lag(as the Resistance 1 experience with 40 players...wow) for the very first time 2 full, complete campaigns... unmatched, a definite bar-raising in online FPS...

They sure do look pretty, though on closer inspection I am very suspicious. There is zero jaggies, not just a good job as coders but more a good jo through dev machine or photoshop. even with jaggies if they can retain the detail this will still kick GoWs ass graphically.

I Killzone 2 and Resistance 2 and Haze and Far Cry 2 are my FPS fixes on PS3 :D

But anyway, it looks very great, the shadow on thechimera on the stairway looks great.

BTW

pythxvii - Killzone 2 was a tech demo at the time they showed it, what did you expect :S

Actually, Insomniac has upgraded their engine so that all of their games run at 60fps and at least at 1080i.

I doubt that the Xbox or PS2(did that even come out?) versions of Black Hawk Down could support 60 players.

I played the first I thought it was good but not great, I played the first killzone i thought it was crap.

Graphics wise it looks good, but that's not what lets resistance or killzone down it needs to be fun and match up to the best of the genre.

I am open minded so I won't judge it just because its a sequel but I am not overly excited by it. The 60 players sound interesting but I doubt it will ever happen.
Why not pc shooters have had 64 players for about three years..

There's something about those screen... they look k... but kinna like killzone now with the orange light thingy.... it's sad that both game uses that... >.>

also if you look closely... the models are even less poly than the first game...

60 player is possible... but only a few people know how to make things fun with 60 players.... and they have yet to prove them self.

It doesn't look much better than the original, and these are of course complete bullshots EA style not a single pixel out of place.

Still if they can make it a bit more interesting than the first game, and develop the multiplayer further it could be a hit.

60 players sounds like fun, Microsoft should take note here there is no reason why an online game should be limited to 16 players.
