PS3

I wouldn't have guessed to stumble upon the first images of Resistance 2 while my collegues must all be deadened (or drunk). Here is a beautiful utility of the time zones ! Resistance 2 will feature two different campaigns ; one traditionnal for solo play and another one that allows up to eight players coop to frag aliens. Other multiplayer modes allow up to 60 players online at any time.

What do you mean standard?
If you have a mic, you talk.......The game doesn't stop you going online if you don't have a mic :S

And type105 you obviously never played Resistance online as more players DOES equal more fun.
You can't just randomly say another game works better 4vs4, that's just GearsOfWar, what's that got to do with anything, this is Resistance online.

And I think you are all in for a good shock when this game is seen in motion.
Everyone said the same things "bullshot" "AA added" etc when Resistance1 shots were released, same for Ratchet and Clank but it turned out they do actually look as good.

I just want a release date now.

looks good. But i never understood the hype for this franchise. I couldn't get into the first one at all...Maybe it's because I had a 360 as well and had other FPS' to compare it to.

As far as the network code goes, it was cool that they were able to support so many people online at once (it is dedicated servers, after all), but that many people doesn't necessarily make the game better.

I feel like 8 player co-op and 60 player online sound great, but mean nothing if the game play isn't great too.

Here's hoping that Insomniac can find whatever magic the first game was missing

The reason KZ2 is getting more hype is because its story/world/character art design is amazing whereas Resistance's was a random mess.

Killzone 2 still looks a LOT better than this

Why are people comparing Killzone 2 and Resistance 2? We barely know anything about the former other then that one level we were shown and now people are assuming that the whole game will be "black/grey/brown" when the first one wasn't either. Jesus.

I think you are right formless. Lets wait for some movies, screens are a bad example anyway. Remember the first shot of KZ2? Everyone loled at it. So you are right, lets wait for the movies11!!

Looks very good indeed, nice lighting. Obviously touched up a bit, but which screenshots aren't these days.

I didn't like the feel of the first one, played the demo and hated it. The spraying bullets thing really annoys me. The weapons just lack a sense of impact and proper feedback. Especially after playing something like COD4, it will be hard to get me into this one. But perhaps they'll improve on the shooting mechanics as well this time around.

Feature-wise though, this game is a monster! Very impressive in that regard.

I couldn't stay alive for more than 30 seconds in the demo of the original game, so I don't think I'll bother with this one.
It was kinda hard to begin with, especially playing with the awful pad. I would`ve much preferred to play it with my 360 pad, but I`m getting used to it slowly.

At the end of the day, I may just end up using my Razer mouse and Keyboard set-up, cuz if the game ends up supporting it then I`m afraid that I`ll have to get out the `Tarantula` and `Deathadder` of doom lol.

Looking VERY good so far. Some of these screens even look a lot like a painting to be honest. I love the draw distance and the thought of playing it with 7 other people is making my mouth water rofl.

Can`t wait !!!.

Some people hate motion blur. It is a personal preference. Motion blur in a game with crappy textures is not > then a game with better textures.

Games should have the options to enable/disable it as it is a matter of preference to gamers.. Some people will feel sick if the game has motion blur when you turn every single time..

Anyway, the game's looking pretty good.. Although the PLAYSTATION®3 can undoubtedly produce such graphics, let's hope that the game delivers.

They added some real time shadows and much ricer colours to the game.

Picked up the original when I got my PS3 for christmas. Not a fan. Thought it was really average but perhaps thats because I was enjoying the likes of Bioshock, Halo 3 and COD4 at the time...
Still, I guess Sony have realized the importance and popularity of FPS games these days so are pumping them out now in the form of Killzone 2 and now Resistance 2. Will they be any good? Well they are both sequels to average games so I'll withhold judgement for now.
As for MP, too many people can ruin a game. I think the original was far too hectic and had next to no strategy which made it very dull and boring and simply and run and gun game. Hopefully the sequel puts more focus on that rather than just pumping up the max players just so they can brag on the back of the box about it...

I see alot of comments made about Killzone2. Do any of you really know anything about the game? I've seen nothing more than a few blurry screenshots here and there. I have yet to even see a trailer of the game in action, and I'm sure it's the same for you all. As for the screenshots here, I don't see anything that could warrant the 'bullshot' comments. The images look a little blurred at that size, and the textures look a little smeared too. Images of this size should be in a higher resolution, but they aren't, which leads me to believe that the game's graphics won't stand out. The PS3 is a great machine, but I question its texturing capabilities. Why do so many pics that get released for PS3 games look so blurry?

Well we know Killzone 2 will have the first ever first person cover system.
You play as the mohawk character that shows in the very beginning of the tech demo, called "Sev".

That was a tech demo showing, but expect updated version this year, and they said there will be a beta for the game.

PS. Do not question PS3's textures. Look at Uncharted for example. Once devs knows how to only make full use of PS3, it will look great. But if poorly done and not only work on PS3 it will not be good. It just depends on the devs really. IW did a great job on COD4.

I am waiting for Killzone 2 more than Resistance 2, because it is more of my style. The dark moody sci-fi shooting with creepy Helghast.

I am just worried about its gameplay because of Killzone on PS2.

Reistance 2 is gonna be very very good no doubt about it. I enjoyed Resistance Fall of Man, co-op was a blast, but now with online co-op up to 4 players on Reistance 2, its gonna be much more fun.

I just want both really much simple as that.

I actually think it has more to do with the hype machine surrounding KZ2 than anything. People are excited about KZ2's story? I'd be surprised if many of the people who are into the KZ2 hype have even played the first game. Resistance 2 has a lot more potential than KZ2, simply based on their respective points of origin (not that this can't be misleading). Resistance also had a pretty interesting story and setting as well--it's certainly not your average WWII game.

Granted, what we've seen of KZ2 thus far has been pretty promising. I'm especially interested in their implementation of cover.. it sure beats the hell out of Ubisoft's mishandling of R6.
PS. Do not question PS3's textures. Look at Uncharted for example. Once devs knows how to only make full use of PS3, it will look great. But if poorly done and not only work on PS3 it will not be good. It just depends on the devs really. IW did a great job on COD4.
Isolated examples of exclusive games (games that can be designed around the consoles weaknesses) don't make up for the dozens of current examples of the PS3's problems with textures and IQ. Even KZ2 has some pretty low resolution, fugly textures, but Guerrilla makes up for it in its art direction, by distracting your attention from the muddy textures with beautiful animation, lighting, and particle effects.

It's been shown in video form. It's basically very simular to something like Vegas, without switching the camera to third person, and thus never giving you an unrealistic line of sight that breaks FPS form by giving you a camera advantage in cover over your regular POV. It's about the only unique and interesting thing they've demoed for KZ2.
