Sony has put online the official Homepage of Playstation Home on their Japanese site, and we of course extract all the images we could find there for you convenience. Looks like it's shaping up nicely.
So this is kind of like second life without the ability to create virtual horse cocks?
Stuff like this has been around for 10-15 years, and it always turns into a meeting place for horny teenagers.........and pedos pretending to be horny teenagers.

They should use this graphics engine in other games...add effects plus textures and it would look very nice
As a gamer I like the idea of being able to just play the games. And I don't really want to walk around speaking to people in groups. I prefer the old friends list and simple menus of the xbox live service.
This does seem like a market for teenagers. I mean I couldn't care less what my guy is wearing and what his house looks like.
Second Life is full of social outcasts. Home will be full of gamers. Not a huge difference, but I prefer the company of the latter. Home will be cool, and you can't really say anything bad about it since it's, you know, free. Well, you can, but it makes you sound very fanboyish.

still don't think it will be as big as some are claiming, but I'll at least give it a go when they make it available. Open Beta or w/e. Maybe it will grow on me :P
It'll be a lot like owning a PSP I think. You'll be like "WOO, HOME, IT'S COOL! LOOK! COOL STUFF!" *going to bed sleeping well knowing you've got Home*
*ultimately not really playing it*
In fact, I think it bears some resemblance to 360 backwards compatibility too. "WOO, X IS BC, IT'S COOL! LOOK!" *going to bed sleeping well knowing game X works on the 360*
*ultimately not really playing it*
But yes, free, that's cool. I'm looking forward more to the trophies and a more consistent online experience in games though, which is allegedly coming along with the release of this.
Could be interesting, I guess, but I really don't see what all the hype is about. It does just look like Second Life, without the user created content. I certainly wouldn't want to use something like this as a social networking tool. The majority of the users are going to be 12 year olds boasting about how good they are at particular games, etc, etc.
I'm still a bit mystified how they are going to do it technically. Read some stuff a while back that indicates to me that it is a combination of servers and p2p networks. Any solid info on the technical stuff?
As for it's importance, I don't know... 2nd Life claims something like 6 million users but research shows that most of those only logged in once. Still, will be nice for those who are interested I suppose. The more the better eh.
Not to sure about the arcade thing though, I just like to access asap from anywhere and don't want to do it in another 'game'.

64 people in any given area, not sure about private areas (streaming music/video from one person to 63 others would be a nightmare)
It's a neat (it not useless) concept, but it was definately NOT Sony's idea.
See: There, Second Life, and a bunch of others.
yeah but those were really not that great(poor performance, terrible visuals, clunky interfaces), and were not on consoles, which is the whole point of Home. Its made to show microsoft they don't have everything. Sure it wasn't totally original, but in the gaming industry, the word "original" can no longer really be taken seriously.
Game is looking very good, I need a PS3 oh so very bad! Too bad I have to replace my 360 first though >.< still I can prolly try it out at my buddies place. Maybe Microsoft will make something like this to compete, and make it available to silver users too! haha FAT CHANCE, not to mention everything would cost MSP >.<
Wow, this is the 3rd complete revision of the outdoors areas. Basically Sony is completely remaking the games areas and they just throw out the old ones.
Besides some of the features, I really wonder how Home will handle the massive loads of people it will get (for at least a while).
I have to admit that HOME looks really cool and xbox 360 cant compete with that. Maybe I will have to buy a PS3 as well :S.SOOOOOOOOOO much money AAAAAAAAHH
I don't know, it's pretty neat in itself and I can see myself wandering around in this thing for a little while, but I don't think it'll be all that exciting in the end, for me. I could see this turning into a hype though, Sony might be on to something here.
I myself am much more excited for something like The Agency. You know, where you actually play a game. That's what I got my PS3 for, playing games.
And this is how you get grown men to play house and dress up Barbie with each other......disguise it as a gaming/social networking service.
It's both brilliant and sadistic at the same time. lol
But seriously, I hope Sony gamers like it. They've been waiting for this thing for quite awhile now. And people should be patient when they first log on, there are no doubt going to be snags on it's first gallops around the track.
And then there will be the abusers :p Hacking and exploiting any potential weaknesses.....ur..um.....enjoy yourselves. :-D
We really worked hard on that one, not just on the video itself, but also on push-ups, ski, running and even a very humiliating belly dance sequence... Enjoy !
