Disney Interactive announced today that they would release Pure, a quad racing game, on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC during Q4 2008. The game is developed by Black Rock Studios (former Climax racing), and if these 5 first images are any indication it does look quite nice. A video should be available soon.

interesting. But the enviroment look really dull. Lighting is uninspired to say the least. It's good that the character and vehicle look rather good. Otherwise this would rocket down on my 'to watch list'.

Knowing Climax (now Black Rock) it will probably be a solid title, but still leave quite a bit to be desired. I hope to be proved wrong.

I saw the trailer which is in CG. Looks exactly like the CG-trailer of Motorstorm, really reminded of that.
Those acrobatic poses in the air made me laugh... And you only can drive with quads? Nargh...

I am really starting to hate the bunch of you covering these forums with prep-school palaver! Geez... this might not even be an in-game screenshot(s).

You probably think a world COD4 and consorts all of which don't come close to the detail level seen in these pics!

If anything... these pics are bullshot or target renders... however, if this should proof to be in-game screenshots than this will probably shut you up!

Well, the screens are small, it's hard to say if they're bullshots or real ingame screens. When the final levels will look like those on the screens, that would be just fine for me, I like 'em. But after having seen the trailer, I'm sceptical. Need to se an ingame movie, to see how the gameplay and system is... I'll keep an eye on this, however.

lol what are you smoking, they look pretty damn good for a game that will probably free roaming.

But anyways, im doubtful these are ingame shots.

lighting is "uninspired" ... how exactly do you make inspired lighting for an outdoor racer? shadows look good and the outdoor atmosphere seem fine...

if they would make the game massively free roaming i'd love it, i mean i kinda like motorstorm, but i want a solid offroad racer for my 360, i want more freedom and less strict track

These types of games still have a lot of potential online. I remember playing that Motocross game for Windows back when it first came out years ago online, and Smugglers Run was a good game too. Hopefully they can get it right.

lol, oh my.. you lot really take this personal don't you. And then for a game that's just been announced.

Well, I stand by my original post. The enviroments are extremly dull. Brown in brown, with a slash of unsaturated green for the vegetation. Not impressive. Not even if this game is freeroaming.

Target renders my a**. If these are target renders it doesn't really bode well. And no, the motorstorm target render was easily miles better looking. (final game as well).

oh and Cheboury - get off your high horse, puurleease. COD4 sure looks a hell of lot better than this. Go get your eyes fixed or something. COD4 looks almost photoreal in places (fx. the sniper levels in Chernobyl) while this is way more simplistic and arcady. Now, photorealism isn't always my cup of tea, but done right (like in cod4) it pleases me quite a bit.

Well, these screens do not look like Motorstorm. But I said the trailer for PURE looks almost like the trailer for MOTORSTORM!! On IGN you can find the trailer. ^^

No, you need to get YOUR eyes checked. CoD4's environments don't look anywhere near as good as this, technically. Look at the AF, look at the trees and terrain miles away. They are obviously target renders are some super hi-res shots shrunk down or something, because there is no way a game can have draw distance that good on 360/PS3.

urgh! quad racing....i dont think i've played a single stand alone game of quad racing thats been even remotely good. hopefully this will change things. already its looking a lot like a freakstyle type EA BIG affair which is good, means it'll be like SSX. i wont hold my breath tho.

Whatever happened to the other Climax (who had to change their name to Climax Graphics because of this Climax who are now Black Rock, doh!) who made cool games like Landstalker, Blue Stinger, Illbleed and Wreckless?

Yes, I have been outside... And no, the realworld does not look like the environments shown here. Not by a long shot. But again, I don't think they went for realism. I just think it looks bland. Sue me, for not liking the look of this game as much you.

Actually, I have no idea.
I played Wreckless ALOT on the old xbox, but sadly never got my hands on the sequel (don't think it was released outside japan). Funny how wreckless got hammered by the critics. I thought it was good fun. Especially if you got far enough to unlock the tank.. haha.

Disney makes decent games sometimes. Tron games(all of them) for example.

Something's...off about this game. The graphical style of the characters reminds me of SSX 3 including the shadows and lighting and how some tricks look.

They look dull compared to what? MX vs ATV which looks like a PS2 game? Uninspired? Its the outdoors, would you prefer a bunch of neon?

Looks fine to me, maybe this game will kick Rainbow Studios in the ass and they will stop using the engine they built for Motocross Madness which came out in like 1998...yea they are using that same old engine.

just watched the trailer, pretty good, that CG trailer was almost as cool (and unachievable) as the 05 motorstorm trailer...lol

cant shake the fact the guys riding the quads look about 7 tho...HAHAHA

i dont really et SSX vibes after see the trailer tho, more like downhill domination.

No one said it was, but its not too far off, it will be choppier and won't have all the AA and a bit of a general downgrade on everything else. Its called render. Its the engine, just with a few extras...

and that 2nd bit butchered a language, im just not sure which one...

ummm what? these shots aren't even in-game and your saying they dont look good? They're obviously renders, just like the video is CG. And anyone who thinks these are in-game shots will be disappointed when they see the real game.
